Restaurant
The Skinny Pancake Burlington Waterfront is a local chain that features breakfast, crepes, panini and live music in a casual, stylish space. The restaurant is best known for its Montreal-inspired menu item: the crepe.
Never expected this place to live up to its considerable hype - but it absolutely DID.(Burlington sure loves the Skinny Pancake! There are several locations.) This is essentially a creperie, with sweet and savory options, as well as salads and some other options (a hamburger, etc.). But the crepes are the super standouts. Had the Johnny Crepe, a barbecue pulled pork and cheese crepe with a smokey maple sauce. Delicious! Paired well with a local IPA. The ambiance is "semi-service" - order and pay at the counter and food is delivered to the table. The space accommodates live music (they were setting up for a show during our early evening visit). This is good fun, a few steps from Burlington's gorgeous waterfront. Highly recommend!

We were here for the New Year brunch. Huge queue and wait time as expected. We got our name in the wait list and were able to secure a table in 30 minutes. We had heard a lot about their crepes, so we ordered veggie monster and Johnny crepes along with side of skinny fries. They were out of Jaffa crepe so we ordered blueberry pie instead for the dessert. I found my veggie option average but my friends really liked their Johnny crepe! Worth a try whenever you are here in Burlington.

Way overhyped for the price! With so many incredible places to eat in the area, you could spend $50 on a couple crepes and some poutine here or go anywhere else and get something twice as good. The crepes are good but forgettable, nothing to write home about. And for around $15 each you’d expect them to be delicious!

My husband and I were looking for a restaurant with vegan options close to Lake Champlain and this was a great choice. I got the apples and cheddar but had them replace the cheese with vegan cheddar and I got the vegan crepe shell. It was a delicious, light meal. My husband had the vegan crepe which he really enjoyed as well. It was filled with seitan, vegan pesto, vegan cheese, spinach, roasted squash and caramelized onions served on a vegan/ gluten free buckwheat shell.

A much loved breakfast stop is none other than The Skinny Pancake in downtown Burlington on Lake Street. Although we missed Bluegrass Sunday afternoon, and the patio was closed due to rain, we managed to squeeze in two breakfast visits to get our Sweet Crepe fix.The cinnamon buckwheat gluten free crepe was light and delicious but we ate it so fast no picture was taken. The second visit we had the Apple Pie Crumble crepe with vanilla ice cream that was insanely good so get two of these because no one will want to share. The Blueberry Pie was served with whipped topping and loads of blueberries, enough for two to share, especially if you get a side of the yummy chicken sausage.Thank you to the staff and manager who are amazing accommodating dietary needs like gluten free and make us feel welcomed!

I always wanted to dine looking lake Champlain when I went to Vermont. Last stay I needed breakfast and stumbled upon this place. It was right across the lake. I took my chances and wasn't disappointed. If you love crepes with variations, THIS IS THE PLACE. oh that day's special was beet and roots hash, yumm...

Loved the atmosphere, friendly service, the chalk table was fun. The poutine was salty but delicious. But of course, you are here for CREPES. Our savory pick was my favorite, chicken bacon ranch. Our sweet pick was my wife's favorite, apple pie stuffed!Keep having a crepe day!

Rustic, casual atmosphere serving some delicious breakfast entrees. Crepes all made to order in varieties for any taste. GF options too. I recommend a visit. Always busy, so expect to have to wait for a table. You won't be disappointed.

It was our first time here and it was suggested by my sister who now lives in Vermont. Went as a large family group and were seated right away. It’s a kinda self serve where you choose from the menu, order at the counter and they bring it to the tables. The crapes were outstanding. We will go again.

The food was amazing and the host was very informative about where his meat and products came from. I had a smash burger and it's the best I've ever had anywhere as much as I want the recipe I rather it be a mystery for me to keep coming back. I had to have 2 even tho I was full!

Really well made crepes here. Ordered the burrito crepe: eggs, beans, and cheese in a scallion crepe. Really sizable burrito and super yummy. The apple, blueberry, and brie crepe was also a wonderful combination. We also ordered the steamed apple cider which was good

The crepe was fine but there was a worm in our food. Generally I prefer to not eat insects and especially the live wiggling ones!

absolutely loved this place so much, i would eat their food every day if i could! the blueberry pie crepe and it was heavenly, as were the sweet potato fries. 1000% recommend stopping here while in VT

Skinny Pancake Restaurant. Food was great, ambience excellent, not a beer drinker but my companions were raving about it. It’s a minimum service restaurant which I really appreciated. If you are in this area do visit but make a reservation first. Cheers

If you like crepes you will love this place. Good amount of vegan options too.

Vegan options! VEGAN OPTIONS!!!! Delicious vegan option in the savory crepe with seitan, so so good. I also loved the beets and sweet potato side dish, I kept the honey but you can order without to make it vegan.

You order yourself and they bring it out. The front staff was fantastic! It was a crazy busy day and they supported with a smile! Huge plus. Crepes were yummy! Great coffee and other drinks too. They have more than crepes. Don’t be fooled by name. Great location too for take out

Ordered two crepes to go. 1 breakfast monster, 1 apples Brie and blueberry compote. To go order handed to me in a paper bag by the handles, stapled together. When I got to my destination (uvm hospital) to share with my mom during her chemo there was blueberry compote dripping out the bottom. Upon opening the bag the to go boxes were stood up inside like slices of pizza with the crust to the bottom. Compote leaked out and was everywhere. I called SP asked for a manager to share my experience with. I was basically thanked and apologized to for my experience, told to have a nice day which ended our call. I was offered nothing to make up for the wrecked crepe and mess. Very disappointing customer service. The other crepe was delicious to be fair (breakfast monster)

Awesome food and love that they had gluten free options! The service was a little chaotic, but it seemed like a bunch of overwhelmed college kids. The hot cider was delicious as were the gluten free crepes. Breakfast potatoes were also so so good! The Brie and apples crepe was marked as savory but it definitely fell more on the sweet side, but was very tasty!

I was immediately greeted like family. This was a day of travel with a backpack waiting for my flight & I was given a cute private space to relax & enjoy. The food & Local Maple Porter were delicious. You can feel the love in this environment!♡

I ate here twice when I came to the area for the total Eclipse. Both experiences were very good. The food is delicious! But the hostess, Cathy(I hope I have her name right), was wonderful on both occasions. But she outdid herself on my second visit. She's very warm and welcoming even with how busy it was. I will be back. The only thing I didn't care for is the ordering system.
Sabrina D — Google review
Ordered breakfast, a savory crepe, and fries. Having chalk for the table was a lot of fun. The fries with the chipotle mayo was a 10/10.Only kind of odd thing was the sausage tasted like vinegar. Asked my husband what he thought and he said the same thing. Would probably just order bacon next time.
Katherine — Google review
Enjoyed our breakfast this morning at The Skinny Pancake. I thought my food was very tasty, as did my boyfriend. I liked the digital ordering system but I felt that it was a bit of a long wait, but I do recognize that it was a Saturday.

If you love crepes you’ll love this place. whether vegetarian, meat loving, spicy or sweet, they have something for everyone. The maple shake was so good I couldn’t stop drinking it until it was gone. Great location in downtown Burlington near the lake.

Vegan crepe was delicious except one of our orders has a full on caterpillar in our side salad. Staff was super nice about it and refunded our order. Ingredients must be super fresh and local.

The Skinny Pancake Burlington strikes me as an "all around option" for grubbing down - by that I mean they have crepes, coffee, booze, burgers, vegan meals - it was a lot more than a pancake place. I pretty much go ape crazy for anything laden with hazelnut or whiskey but I ventured into crepe territory today with something called a Sugar Shack and lemme tell you I would have gladly paid double the menu price for it. It was that good! Now I always thought that crepes were just pancakes for the alternative lifestyle people but No Siree Bob this New England breakfast dish they call the Sugar Shack is for everyone.Sure it sounds dirty but its a clean tasting Maple Sugar / Maple Syrup combination of breakfast joy. I highly recommend it!The restaurant itself gives off a 90's vibe with some hard rock considerations. The server greeted us at the door and said that it was a "semi service place" and I was tempted to ask if I should lay down a "semi tip" but I was scared that my wife would kick me again like the time I asked a manager why they fill the urinals with ice in the mans restrooms and while I have him on that subject could they put up some partitions in between the urinals. She kicked me hard that day.Speaking of kicks the sweet potato fries were well received by my beautiful bride, who has Pacific North West influences but still had the good since to marry a Texan. She carried on a while about how good The Skinny Pancakes Sweet Potato Fries were and how it reminded her of some place called Oregon - even though we are here in Vermont. I dunno, I tried to pay attention. She was right about those fried though. Now this place did not have a dedicated restroom...you had to go down the hall and use a special code which struck me as unusual, but alright. The Skinny Pancake looked like it was set up for live music maybe or poetry or my favorite - stand up comedy. The last time I told a joke in public my wife kindly reminded me that some jokes play out funnier when unspoken - anyway there was a small stage, and some basic lighting and sound above the makeshift staging area which is not too far from the bar.I want to come back here, I dont know if I will but in the interim I encourage you to drop by and get that Sugar Shack.

Amazing crepes!!!! Would recommend the Johnny’s Crepe and the Cheesy Chicken Pesto savoury crepe, they were impressive and packed with flavours!!The blueberry pie crepe as dessert was tempting.

SO yummy. Highly, highly recommend for dinner, or any meal really. All the maple syrup is real so drench the heck out of your dish, and be sure to try both a sweet and savory crepe. Laid-back atmosphere with mostly college-aged students and small groups. Kid-friendly, but not the target audience.

Hen of the Wood in Burlington Vermont is a rustic and upscale restaurant that puts a focus on local, seasonal fare with craft cocktails. The barn-like atmosphere makes it an ideal place to relax and enjoy the food.
We were invited to Hen of the Wood while we were in Burlington and I couldn’t have been happier with our experience. They have taken great care to cultivate a fine dining ambience that is not overcrowded or pretentious. The Farm To Table experience offered is one of the things we love most about the town of Burlington, Vermont. The food itself is delicious. We had a variety of cold seafood, steaks, vegetables and dessert - all were excellent.Do not skip dessert. Their olive oil lemon cake is SO GOOD. 🍋 I promise it’s worth all of the calories!

Love this place! The ambiance and food is absolutely stellar. My partner and I have celebrated several occasions at Hen of the Woods and will happily return for more.Their Parker house rolls are quite possibly the most delicious bread you'll taste in Vermont. Soft pillows of deliciousness. I generally end up ordering most, if not all of the small plates, for great sharing options and to really get a sense of the entire menu. Don't skip on the cured ham if that's available, or their signature mushroom toast, and be sure to leave room for a cheese or two to end your meal. Cocktails are delightful and use local spirits and ingredients, reflecting the overall ethos of the restaurant. I recommend this place for cozy dates, big celebrations, and any time you want to enjoy local products.

We celebrated a birthday at this location, and the food did not disappoint. There is definitely something for everyone, and you can accommodate a lot of different dietary restrictions. The cocktails and wine are also excellent. The overall ambiance is intimate and a bit moody. The open kitchen concept allows you to really feel like you’re immersed in the culinary experience, and the servers are knowledgeable and helpful. Be prepared to order quickly because when it’s a busy evening, the pacing and delivery of food felt a bit slow.

Last minute Walk-in and were offered a spot at the bar. Best decision of the day. The pastrami duck was an delicious surprise and the work put into the veggies definitely shows. My personal highlight, the olive oil cake. You will not be disappointed!

Wow, we were recommended by fellow skiers on the lift and it didn't disappoint at all. We got to sit at the chef's counter and being someone who has been in the restaurant my whole life it was a pleasure to watch these guys work. Super professional and the whole kitchen works as a well oiled machine. The food was equally as impressive, the menu changes frequently, so if they have it, the duck was amazing and even my girlfriend who doesn't like duck tried it, and agreed it was delicious. Finished with an Espresso martini which was a perfect finish to the perfect dinner with my special girl!

let's start with the cheese: it is evident that they have gone out of their way to select excellent VT cheese.regarding the piece d' resistance : they recommend you go for the steak. although cooked perfectly it is served together with a sauce that is a bit of a disservice to the texture of the steak.the wine selection is very good although they failed to warn our table about the uniqueness of the VT wine on offer, which had atypical tasting notes. In my opinion, a restaurant of this caliber should have warned the table about this. The venue is warm and inviting and the window to the meat freezer adds a unique visual element.
Harry K — Google review
Waw this was good and fun experience! The restaurant, first of all, is beautiful and very cozy. Immediately felt welcome and excited to eat. The food is local and so delicious. The cocktail was strong and refreshing. I recommend the melted cheese with rhubarb compote. Dessert was so good. Really enjoyed it. It's pricey, so come prepared.

This was by far the best meal of our weeklong trip in Burlington VT and Lake Placid NY. Everything from the food to the cocktails to the service were phenomenal. Certainly a bit of a pricy meal but well worth it to us for the great experience. Two of us shared a half dozen oysters, two cheeses, three small plates, and one larger plate fish dish. All were fantastic. Desserts were also great!
Dave D — Google review
Place is dark and noisy. Ribeye was nicely done but wouldn't spend $110 on it again. Oysters are very small so a dozen per person is a minimum. Solid draft beer selection but Juniper Bar (located in Hotel Vermont) has much better one, at least this time around. Overall, a good experience

There were no reservations available, but two of us got a walk in right when they opened. There was already a line out the door in -20 degrees, but we were fortunate enough to sit in front of the chefs. We ordered a few different dishes. You could taste the intent in each bite. The endive and venison tartare were especially unique and delicious. The cocktails were also great, I had to get the one with mezcal and repasoado twice. The menu rotates, so I can't wait to be back.
Deven — Google review
Always amazing fare at both locations. Fresh, seasonal, local, and exquisitely paired flavors. Oysters are super fresh! The seat at the chefs counter is always the best spot in the house as you can watch the dance between everyone to create all the yummy dishes. Staff on both sides of the counter are wonderful and clearly love food as much as we do. They are super helpful with food restrictions and one of the very few places in the country that on occasion have local shrimp that are sulfite free! Best sunset views right out the front door.
Xilia F — Google review
Fantastic. The atmosphere was nice. All employees were very friendly and helpful. We never felt rushed. We were able to order at a leisurely pace and enjoy the meal as we wanted.Drinks were tasty. All the food was prepared well. Truly the steak, beets, and carrots were the best part of the whole meal! The beef tartare was very good-even my husband liked it and he’s usually not a tartare person.

UNREAL. this might be one of the best restaurant experiences of my life. Everything was incredible - service, cocktails food. I got a gin cocktail and my husband had a rum cocktail. For an app we got this bread, cheese and cantaloupe thing which was fantastic. I ordered the halibut and my husband ordered the steak. Both incredible. GO HERE.
Amar B — Google review
We had the pleasure of sitting at the chefs counter to watch them work their magic! The wait staff was well informed to answer all our questions and the food was fantastic. Well worth making the reservations early 💗 We wish you had a location in NH!
Kelsey M — Google review
Better service than I've gotten at restaurants in Boston or NYC that cost twice as much, and better food. Cocktails were fantastic, with more pre-set menu variety there than most venues — though you can order an old standby if you want. The food was incredible, with very fresh and flavorful ingredients in curious and interesting combinations.Even though it was "just" a side, the sunchokes were a major highlight for me. The oysters were also fantastic, and the mignonette paired with them must be in the top 2-3 preparations I've had. I sat at the bar for a solo dinner, and the noise level wasn't a problem either. The menu also changes frequently, so my recommendations will fall out of date, and I'll also have a great reason to come back soon.

no culinary experience we’ve had in the states compares to our time at Hen in the wood in Burlington VT. We did not have a reservation so we went when they opened at 4:30 and got two seats at the bar. Preston and Emily behind the bar were incredible- beyond their knowledge of the menu and bar tending abilities, they were incredible humans. They made time to have conversations and provide such a welcoming experience. The food speaks for itself- top top top notch. We started w the oysters and seared calamari dish, for main course we enjoyed hanger steak, and was a maple key like tart (out of this world) and 2 decaf cappachinos. I will forever recommend hen of the wood
Ashley K — Google review
My favorite restaurant in Burlington! We did the butcher room for the first time as a group. I definitely recommend this even though the price was steep (220/person). The one thing that I thing should be changed is instead of champagne included in the cost, it should be a cocktail of choice. A lot of our group didn’t drink champagne or were looking for a non alcoholic substitution. All the food we got was amazing except the cabbage salad which we found to be a bit too bitter for our liking. The night started with oysters, prosciutto and Parker house rolls. Followed by the cabbage salad. We then had an amazing white fish dish followed by ribeye. Both were the best tasting food we have ever had. Good portions for a group our size. 10/10 recommend!

Amazing experience from beginning to end!! Burlington's food game is ON POINT. There are two bar seating sections - one at the bar and one that is a full kitchen view. I was lucky enough to score a kitchen bar seat, and it was the best seat in the house! I saw all the action, spoke with the chefs and servers, and had a wonderful experience. Oysters are fresh with a fantastic mignonette. Parker House rolls are fluffy and delicious. Heirloom tomatoes were juicy and farm fresh, with housemade ricotta. The braised duck with housemade pasta was phenomenal. Even the Little Treats at the end were great. Chris, my server, was knowledgeable, provided great suggestions, and was friendly & efficient. All-in-all one of the best overall meals I've had in a while.

First off amazing food. Wow the rib eye was insane! We loved it. We loved the smoked cabbage, radiccio and spinach, crispy potatoes, rabbit croquette, rolls, wow wow wow.One thing is we were made to put a card down and expected to pay 50 if we didnt show yet when we waited for 20 min. If you are going to threaten a charge for cancellation then you need to return that energy and at least offer a complimentary drink while a couple waits 15-20 minutes for their table. You had 4 people come apologize yet offering nothing but a smile. Odd.Once served the waitress was lovely and we had a blast but its clear you have taught staff to operate more like a mcdonalds than a high quality restaurant. The waitress forgets to bring smoked cabbage and brings polenta instead so then we had to wait for the complete meal we ordered for quite a while. Also during the meal the kitchen brings out complimentary ham we didnt ask for then get this…. Charges for it. Lmao. My husband just pays the bill without looking but I had a feeling they may make a mistake and lo and behold charged for the complimentary ham we didnt want. She then…. Goes on to say “oh I didnt charge for rolls but charged for that so I will take that off and add rolls. Mistakes one after another and brought the same energy as charging for ranch. It is important to note that this isnt really the staffs fault, this is clearly an issue of management not training staff in the kind of customer service that needs to be present at a restaurant like this. And its also unfair to the waitress because since shes not given the tools to succeed her tips most likely suffer and are less than what they could be.All in all not worth 300 bucks, amazing ambience and food but staff isnt trained for fine dining that you charge for

Reservations are required and hard to get-- plan ahead! Menus are prepared daily; there are several starters and a few main dishes, but we (six people) shared five starters, one (two person) steak plate and two sides; we ended with two desserts and no one left wanting; almost all the food is very rich-- creams, butters, paté (and amazing); we had the table for almost three hours. The space is dark, woodsy, and (I think) very nice; this is not a noisy place-- we were able to have a conversation and hear each other. The service was excellent; food came as it was prepared, but never had too many plates on the table; water and wine glasses were never empty; the server was knowledgeable about the food and wine, easy to talk with and not stuffy. All this comes with a price: six people, one bottle of wine, a couple beers, plus a tip came to $510. Not an every week event for us, but we left very happy and look forward to our fourth visit!(Street parking can be tight, but there is a ramp very close.)

This is a great spot for dinner in Burlington. Ambience is just amazing. Service was above average. Food was spectacular. The piel ta was delicious and came packed as a pillow pasta. The steak was done with expertise and care. Vegetables were well done and tasty. Cocktails were superb. We sat at the bar which was perfect for us. There is also a chef table that we will try next time as it should be fun watching them cooking. The place also has a private table in the back next to the big kitchen. Overall, will be coming back again.

I only had to walk a few feet my hotel to dine in what I’ve been told is a key culinary experience for Burlington and it certainly did not disappoint. The entire menu is a one pager so your options are not vast but that is an important aspect. There is not one single menu item that isn’t done to the highest level of quality. There are no gaps in their offerings. The overall restaurant ambiance is very cosy with a somewhat Hobbit hole type feel. The area is lively with conversation so it isn’t the quietest place to dine but also not obnoxious. My server Natalie was very knowledgeable and friendly and really helped walkthrough my meal selection. I started off with the Gem salad and it was perfectly balanced in the amount of dressing and lettuce. The beets were very good and that comes from a person that normally doesn’t like beets! I moved on to the hangar steak medium rare and it has the perfect amount of outer crust while still being tender, moist, and flavorful on the inside. The peas in the pod with the sauce was very mild and subtle and a great complement to the meal. I also ordered a side of potato fingerlings that were moist and full of flavor that they didn’t need anything else on it even though it came with a little bit of cream sauce underneath. Lastly I had the chocolate mousse that was very light smooth and not overpowering along with a complement of berries and crushed cracker. I highly recommend you try a meal out at this restaurant. It was an awesome dining experience!

Very sweet staff. The sun chokes were pretty good, the steak was pretty good also but honestly tasted kind of like pepperoni and overpowered what I enjoy in a steak. Distinctly lacking in interesting gluten free or non-alcoholic options. Very good ambiance.

I would rate this place 10 stars if I could. Best meal I’ve had in a while. Didn’t make a reservation, but turned up around 5:30pm on a Saturday with a group of 4 and was able to be seated immediately in the lounge seating. Each of us ordered one of the 4 mains and shared, steak and swordfish were REMARKABLE. Bathroom is fun!

My absolute favorite restaurant in Burlington. The establishment is beautiful, clean, and has such a cozy date night feel to it. The service was top-notch from the host at the front to the bartender serving us. We didn't have reservations, but they squeezed us in. The wait system was great, and it goes right to your phone. The food blew me away. It's farm to table which I really like. The menu had great options for any taste pallet. The menu rotates periodically, so be aware of that. The drink list is huge and they had some very nice beers to choose from. We started with one of the cheese plates. We got a very strong and sharp local cheddar that was paired with some crackers, lightly sweetened nuts, and apple butter. The combo went together really well and was a decent size. For a main, I got the duck. It came with a grain medley and a semi sweet sauce. The duck was cooked perfectly. Juicy breast and crispy salty skin. The gain medly had a wonderful taste like Thanksgiving stuffing. Both were complimented well with the sauce. My girlfriend got the hanger steak. The chef cooked it perfectly medium rare. It had sweet beets as the side that went surprisingly well with the steak.Overall, highly recommended to all. It's worth a trip out of the way.

Absolutely LOVED this restaurant! If you’re looking for a REAL gourmet experience, this is THE place to be! From the ambiance, to the service, to the food, everything was absolutely perfect. The menu changes all the time according to seasons and local products so it’s nice to go back. We recommend the tuna crudo, the pork belly (just wow!) the tagliatelle, the fresh charcuterie and the local blue cheese. Please note that the desert was also fantastic -their local freshly made ice cream- and mousse. Finally the whole staff was ultra professional, friendly and polite. Big thanks to our waitress and Chef Nick Frank for everything and our complementary ice creams! We’ll be back!

The Farmhouse Tap & Grill is a Burlington gastropub that showcases Vermont beers and craft brews with burgers and other dishes. The restaurant has an outdoor beer garden as well as a carved wood bar. The food menu offers options for vegetarians and vegans, as well as extensive selections of Vermont beers.
Amazing Burger! Great salad with very tasty seasoned toasted pepitas and roasted beets! Delicious fish and chips, though we substituted the chips for the deeply comforting buttermilk mashed potatoes. Drinks were also great and fairly priced. Huge kudos for having Hills Farmstead 'Edward' on tap, truly irresistible!Great Service! Highly recommend! Worth every penny!

Our waitress, Michelle, was the most chill waitress we ever met. She made us feel like we were at home eating dinner! She was an awesome person! As for the cuisine, it was excellent. The cod and the brisket were delicious. My wife said the spaghetti squash was a little too spicy but she said the Cheddar Ale Soup was very good. I enjoyed my hot apple cider and the blue cheese garlic bread. My apple pie alamode was tasty but if the pie was heated up it would have been perfect!

Felt like a great place to hangout. Delicious beer cheese soup. Mouthwatering heirloom tomatoes salad with cucumbers and cheese!!! The dry rub wings were tasty but definitely needed lots of napkins. Enjoyed the beer selection as well. Will go back for sure.

Food is good. Burger is the only vegetarian option. It took long time to get the orders but food was good. Onion rings were better than a lot many other places. Corn bread was really good with special butter. Would recommend to try corn bread for sure.

I loved this place! Great beer! The bartender was very nice and welcoming. The only I regret is ordering my burger well done. The meat is lean so if cooked well done it will be dry. It lacked seasonings. But the sauces I was given were good and frys were delicious 😋

Okay listen! 🖐🏼 We need you to get this: Pork Burger!!! The server Emma was AMAZING, she was friendly, quick, and her recommendations were on point. The Old Fashions were AWESOME also!

Everything was so good here! Get the cheese plate! The cheese was so fresh and a good mix. We also got the beet salad, mussels, and salmon. My husband said it was the best salmon he’s ever had. It was really nice inside and had a beer garden in the back. I would recommend making a reservation as we went around 6PM and had to wait about an hour for 2. It does not have a parking lot, but there is street parking close by.

The atmosphere is originally what drew our attention in. The inside is decorated so uniquely. There's a long stretch bar across the back wall(probably seats 10-12ish?) They carry a lot of their own products and mixed drinks/cans/ anything of that nature was a little more challenging to get.The menu does offer a lot of unique options but they are so specific, it makes it a little harder for everyone to find something. Between the 4 of us we ended up with a Kale and Arugula salad, the Adams Farm chicken salad salad, the BBQ beef burger, and an egg salad sandwich. (From the lunch menu also attached) The food was good but it didn't blow us out of the water. With them making a lot of their own beer, we figured we'd try a few. They offer a 1 oz pour for $1 and offer 6 oz pours as well. I can't even remember which ones were ordered but they had an overly powerful taste. (At least to me) In their defense, I don't drink IPAs and beers so I'm not really acclimated to them. They had seating both indoor(booths and tables) and outside(tables). The booths were a little small but everything was busy when we went.Staff was attentive and punctual.Everyone was very friendly, bar service was fast, as was receiving our food. Price was a little higher up there but they are a more home grown, freshly made restaurant so I understand why.Overall, food was average, staff was great.

Loved this place! Wonderful offerings for the wandering foodie! Ate at the bar with my husband on a whim. Bartenders were attentive an made appropriate suggestions. Food was elevated yet comforting... Beef tartar, schnitzel, spätzel... All legit. Very nice wine and whiskey selection! We'll be back next time we're in the area!!

A truly fun place to hang out with friends and family. The place was fairly crowded on a Saturday afternoon but we managed to get a table within a couple of minutes. We had a Breakfast Special comprising of scrambled eggs with cheese, hash browns and arugula salad in a vinegar dressing. We opted out on the bacon and they threw in an extra hash brown instead. It was accompanied with toasted red hen bread with lots of butter on the side. We also had a roasted squash sandwich and a bean burger with a side of fries. The crispy onion rings were also quite delectable. We washed it down with a pint of Queen City Hefeweizen draught beer. The grand finale was an Apple Pie with Ice Cream. Truly a highly satisfying meal indeed

I live in Toronto-Canada, I traveled a lot and I had police recommended to eat on this place. Unfortunately, this is the worse place that I had lunch in my life. The food is disgusting...like a food for porc(subpar).I'm very upset about this place.I had Fish & Chips. Fish doesn't exist, only flour fries. French fries, never, they fried with old and dirty oil. 🤢🤮🤢🤮. After that, my stomach was painful all day. I had to go in the and take medication to go back home. Please, do not go on this restaurant.

Great atmosphere but the Mussels Dish I was served was not well seasoned and was very bland. The fish and chips was so much better. The cheese plate was also not good

Even if you spend $313 for dinner with a 22% tip, they ask you to leave so they can sit other people, even though there are other empty seats in the garden. Places like this don't deserve paying customers. I'll recommend to never go here.At first I was hesitant about dining here, but I was pleasantly surprised at the cocktails and food, plus the friendly service. Parking is always an adventure in downtown but that's a given. I'd go here again, but may have to convince my husband- I think only the burger tempts him. I absolutely enjoyed the salmon- so yummy! 😋💛💚 plus the homemade sauces.

I really enjoyed the food and the vibes at this place! I don’t remember her name but the lady at the bar while we were waiting for our table was amazing and made me samples so I could try some of their beers. I found out that I really love sour beers! Everything was local so it was fun to discover. It was my first time in Burlington, but I will definitely come back when I’m in the area.

Farmhouse never disappoints! My partner and I got the steak tartare to start, fish & chips and a burger as our main with the kale and mushrooms on the side. We were so full we couldn’t manage desert! The burger was great, a solid 8.5/10, but the fish n chips and tartare were the show stoppers. This is the crunchiest, most delectable fish n chips I’ve had in VT- above UJ’s by a mile, and the crispy warm hashbrown under the tartare with the sauce? TO DIE FOR. Both get a 10/10 for me.The ‘Pimm and Bear It’ Cocktail was also fabulous- and the glass it came in was so cute!

Great food! Salmon was perfect and well seasoned and their burgers are perfect! Great place to stop when strolling through downtown Burlington. Extensive beer wine and cocktail menu as well. Their outside patio is perfect.. Heated for when it's just a tad too cold! This was the perfect place for us to stop after the eclipse for a bite to eat! Wait was a little long but considering the number of tourists like us in town understandable.

Came for Easter brunch, great menu and excellent execution all across the board. The pictures don't lie. Onion rings were unusually good - super crunchy. The honey in the cheese course was a nice touch, too. Espresso martini was chilled perfectly and very well balanced. Would come back for sure.

Food was phenomenal! If you’re lucky enough to get the server from Wisconsin you’re in for a treat she was amazing! Highly recommend the beoir beer it’s my current favorite stout. The heirloom tomato salad was so fresh and delicious. We honestly can’t recommend this place enough we went back the following day and the service is next level! Our bartender was super friendly and made sure our drinks never stayed empty for long!

We arrived early; the host sent us to the alleyway to wait and the chairs were all wet and I sat down without knowing it. We waited for like 20 mins and been seeing people being seated; asked the host and she said oh, yes your table is ready then sat us immediately, as if she had forgotten about us.The waitress was nice and friendly. Order 3 things: cheddar ale soup - it’s like salt and water, couldn’t take more than a few sips. Chicken wings were nice though. Pulled pork tasted really mushy and very salty…The sides especially onions rings were okay.

So glad we came back! Tonight was by far the best waitress we ever experienced. We have gone out to every restaurant from fine dining to casual, new york (where we live) to vermont to Connecticut to delaware to PA and Angie at Farmhouse was by far the best service we ever experienced. Fun, witty, pleasant, and on top of her game she made the experience absolutely wonderful! This girl is keeping customers happy! Best burger in town!

Went here for a late lunch. Even given the mid-afternoon timing, it was very busy (20+ minute wait). Our wait staff was great; friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive. The food seemed pretty good; my salad was OK.Chief knock against this place is the cost; $250 for six people for lunch. If this were dinner with drinks, appetizers, entrees, and maybe dessert, I wouldn't have given the check a second thought. Seemed very pricey for a lunch meal.

We were hoping for oysters, but learned they are only served for dinner. Our servers gave us time to decide if we could put a lunch together that would make us happy. We started with a Dirty Smugglers Martini. The delicious Parsnip and Apple Bisque was next. Then the P.E.I. Muscles. Everything was quick and tasty. We'll be back!

**see update at the bottom**--they fixed their fries!! 5* again! ***Been a happy customer and loyal customer of Farmhouse for years! The burger is the best. BUT, the last two times, the FRIES have been really not good--sometimes I come JUST for the fries. I was there on Sunday and Monday, and both times it was dark, dark brown and/or black. The manager was amazing and accomodating (thank you!)--but the chef couldn't do anything about it. Being a potato fanatic (I have not seen a potato I don't like), I believe the oil you're using is old and rancid, or the fryer is not working properly. Two days in a row the fries came out like it was a huge clump of oil. I"ll upload pictures of what the fries used to be, and what was served this week...hope you can look in to this.OK..the first picture is from this week--black, reused oil, many were burned beyond recognition (this happened twice, and remade ones), and the second is from last Summer--light, golden, and fluffy inside and not oily. What changed?***Update: Just visited again (told you we can't stop coming here when we come)--Kyle the manager (wonderful) told us they worked on the fries, and you know what??!! They are back to the great fries they have always had--thank YOU so much. I still contend they have one of the best burgers in the business, and as another reviewer said, the condiments are wonderful. Keep up the great work!

The Farmhouse Tap & Grill was a surprisingly good restaurant right off Church Street in Burlington! This past summer, in the midst of all of our shopping, we just wanted to go somewhere for a good, quick meal, and this was the perfect spot. We got a veggie burger (I think it was chickpea?) as well as their fish and chips and both items were great. The fish and chips were super good - some of the best we’ve had! We’ll need to return next time we’re in Vermont to try more things from their menu. The waitress we had was also really great. It’s been months since our visit and yet I still remember this restaurant having great service…that means something!! Also, the atmosphere is also really nice, and food comes out quick as well. This is a great option for lunch if you’re in Burlington! Definitely recommend checking it out!

This is a nice place to go eat. I would absolutely recommend their classic burger (cooked medium) with the side of home made fries, and a dab of their house hot sauce... its great!Service was good and friendly, easy to get tables even if busy. As for the ambiance, it seems simplistic at first, but it actually has large tables, booths and a lot of space between tables. The rest of their menu is kinda on the more expensive side, but the burger is a no-brainer for the quality you get.

It's fine. Very popular spot so reserve in advance or be prepared to wait. My salad was ok, the greens tasted old. Fries were delicious!

Very recommend !!!!!!I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. The burger I ordered was the most delicious I’ve ever tasted—fresh, juicy meat paired with homemade sauces that were absolutely delightful. Even my child ordered the burger twice because it was that good! The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was perfect. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning for more.

The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. The prices are on the higher side, but they are comparable most to other establishments in the area. I hated the mussels they served, but I am assuming that's how it's supposed to taste, because it was the first time I had it.PS. Thank you for your reply. I have mistakenly added the wrong photos. I changed them.

Bistro
Restaurant
Leunig's Bistro is a longtime favorite in Burlington, VT, serving up French classics such as crème brûlée and escargot. The restaurant is housed in a vintage-glam bistro with an air of sophistication.
Leunig’s Bistro & CaféAfter a 23 mile bike ride, I was starving, but didn’t want to just grab anything. I was ready to sit and enjoy a meal comfortably. The outside dining area was the perfect spot! I ordered a chocolate martini to start with and that came out fabulously – maybe one of my top-five of all time martini’s! I ordered the Shrimp salad and it was absolutely amazing! I’ve dined a lot of places and have never come across a dish so light, delicious, and creative in presentation. I loved it’s Church St. Marketplace location and I had a front row seat to all the passersby during my entire late lunch. I would definitely recommend this place as the service was fast, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect. Bathrooms were also very clean!

Food options were great! Lots of traditional French dishes. We had the trio of sliders, venison, duck & lamb as an app. Beef bourguignon and the Captain Cod for dinner. Super flavorful & satisfying. Dessert was the brown butter tart, delicious! I would have loved a little more acid on the sliders & cod as they were a bit heavy & rich & needed something to break through that. Overall a delicious meal.

Leunigs knows how to do comforting and flavorful. I strongly believe that you cant go wrong with any of their duck dishes. Its tender, juicy, rich, and flavorful.. what more could you ask for? their soups are also delicious and comforting on a cold winter day. Worth the hype

Holy cow talk about an absolute smorgasbord of flavors. I ordered the breaded chicken with peaches dish. We got the steak and shrimp app and of course, some fries. We sat outside under their cover while it rained. Little loud ambience but to be expected. The service was nice and pleasant. We were greeted with a smile and positive attitude. Would I recommend this place? Absolutely.

4.4.Great spot in Burlington. It’s kind of a French bistro meets American pub and gave me a New Orleans French Quarter vibe. Friendly service and knowledgeable staff. Great happy hour/special menu from 4-5pm daily. The steak frites was great- sauce was one the sweeter side. They are super accommodating of allergies, I went in with a dairy and soy allergy and they were knowledgeable about which dressings and sauces were safe and knew without being told that vegetable oil is unsafe.Really kind staff and accommodating of children.Big menu with something for everyone.

While walking Church St we noticed this beautiful restaurant with an intriguing menu. Glad we chose to enter, the beautiful decor was inviting, the service was impeccable and the food was absolutely delicious. I had the steak fries which had the most perfect golden crispy seasoned fries and a perfect steak with a cold Stella in it's chalice. Will definitely visit again next time in Burlington. Highly recommended!

Went for lunch the duck was good the trio app was good the steak was weak and cheap. Not worth the money. The service was great until the end of the meal we waited for a To go box and the check. Still would give them another chance. The waitress was very nice and probably busy.

I enjoyed the Cavatappi Carbonara very much (pictured). The service was superb. We were lucky to seat a large party without reservations relatively quickly; even though at two nearby tables.I would say they are geared more for intimate dinners vs group dinner parties. That said I know they can accommodate such a thing with proper reservations!!

Stopped here for lunch outdoors on market street. The duck poutine is fantastic (highly recommend)! Also had their calamari, good, but the poutine was the star of the appetizers. The angus burger and roast beef sandwich was also good, but we found ourselves continously grazing on the poutine. Our server was awesome and you can't beat lunch outdoors on the street market. Awesome place to eat!

Had a birthday meal here for our son who attends uvm and a few of his friends. We all had enjoyable meals....we did an early sitting with a 430 reservation, so beat the rush. Sat inside near the open air doors and enjoyed the atmosphere. 3 salmon meals, a beef meal, and carbonara. All were good. Everyone had salad and it was tasty start for the meals. I had the salmon frites which was on point.

This is the second time I’ve been to Leunig’s, and it did not disappoint. The incredible atmosphere, staff, and food make it one of my favorites, and a must-stop in Burlington. I had the maple scallops with bread pudding (amazing), and my companion had a seasonal salad with filet. It was all wonderful.

We started with L'Orangerie Bordeaux Blanc. A perfect pairing with Raw Oysters. Our friendly server, Daniel, put it together for us. The Filet Mignon entree was perfection. We finished with the Key Lime Coconut Tart. Sorry, no picture. Couldn't wait. 😊 Delicious! Looking forward to our next visit!

One of the best restaurants in downtown Burlington, right on Church St! The menu is incredibly diverse and outstanding, the outdoor patio is excellent for people watching on Church St. and enjoying the weather, the interior is cozy and intimate, the staff is professional and friendly, and the prices are fair. A long time favorite and very popular-reservations book out far in advance, and "a must" in Burlington!

Really quite lovely bistro. We sat upstairs. I had the filet but didn't enjoy everything on the plate. The cucumbers were strange, but the asparagus was good. Dessert was also good. The apple pie was a really big serving. The cocktails were creative and perfect. Morgan is an excellent server.

Try to eat here today, but were turned away by server saying no dogs were allowed on their patio. We ate elsewhere and when we passed this establishment later that day other dogs had been allowed on the patio (clearly pets, not service animals). To clarify, we understand certain restaurants do not allow dogs and we respect that, but it felt very bias to see large dogs being allowed there when our small (under 20lbs) well behaved dog couldn’t. This is very unfortunate since we looked forward to trying their food.

Leunig’s is always great! Delicious food, nice atmosphere and the best service. At times they have live music and it’s conveniently downtown located. I’ve tried pretty much everything on the menu and somehow now I order the same pictured items. As for appetizers and drinks (not- pictured) escargot is delicious 🐌 and Maple Bourbon Sour 🥃 among my favorites.

Always amazing! For years Leunig's has been my go-to. In-between all of the try this place, or that place, this place never fails to provide an excellent experience. The calamari is the best in Burlington, and the early Bistro specials are an unbeatable value. Staff are always welcome and service is top notch.

We eat here every time we visit Burlington. The salmon plate is delicious, never overcooked, with a side salad and basket of bread. The indoor tables are set in a cozy ambience but the best experience is outside on their terrace located on the pedestrian mall. Nowadays, it’s hard to find a restaurant with fresh food, friendly service and a good location. We just keep coming back.

Breakfast restaurant
Restaurant
Henry's Diner is a diner that has been serving up pancakes and Americana for over 90 years in Burlington, Vermont. It is popular with locals for its all-day breakfast menu, large portions, and great prices.
First time visiting Burlington and my friends and i stumbled onto this exciting cozy diner. There was already a line up when i arrive about 10am but they were very well organized to register our names and waiting time was about 15 minutes. The diner itself is really cute and you feel the all American vibe. Service was excellent, as it was our first time there, the waitress was very kind to help us around the menu. The food was excellent, portion size was generous and the coffee was 100% excellent to start off on our day trip.

The food here was good. The portions was perfect for me. I ordered the "small Henry" and I thought that was alot of food. Loved the hot chocolate.

Son picked Henry's Diner because he wanted pancakes. I didn't have the highest expectations and didn't necessarily want to wait, but glad we did. Kids got different types of pancakes and they were delicious. Would order again for myself. The skillet, biscuits, and has brown casserole were excellent. Also, the Greek bread with butter was amazing. Highly recommend for breakfast food. especially the pancakes. Service was quick and friendly.

What a crazy hectic little breakfast heaven! A line outside, obviously aware of the goodness that awaits! Servers are literally running from table to table and doing the best to keep their head above water. At the same time, the coffee's hot and the food comes out fast! Kimmie was fantastic as was the rest of the team that keeps up the organized chaos that makes it all work!

Went to this diner after long hours of road. We were hungry and got what we craved: hamburgers. They were good but not the best burgers I've eaten. However, the fries were delicious (could've snacked endlessly on them). The atmosphere was great but we were seated next to the toilets... Also, the food took a good 40min to come.

Super cute diner in the middle of downtown burlington. We had brunch there before exploring the city. The waitress was super nice and the service was really fast. 10/10It was a bit pricey but i would say the portions were really good so it evens out.

Breakfast is my favorite meal in the road and I love searching out real diners. Henry’s did not disappoint! I got the Hungry Henry and it was exactly what I would expect from a good old fashioned dinner. It wasn’t busy so the food came out quick. The servers were all excellent and I think I chatted it up with every one at some point. I can’t wait to go back!

I loved supporting the local businesses.I heard about Henry's Diner from my Fiancee and I told her that's what I need to try instead of going to a Denny's. I understand about small business owners you pay a little more but it's worth it. On this day I had ordered chicken fried steak and eggs with country potatoes and english muffin. This made day everything was prepared to my satisfaction. My Fiancee had a turkey club sandwich with potato chips.I really can't wait to go back again and try something different from the menu.

It is a great Diner if you know what to expect. It is small and it was very busy when I went there. The service was very good and the staff was friendly. The Omelette was a little smaller and there were less home fries on the plate than I am used to but the quality was very good and the English muffin was the largest and softest I have ever had. The English muffin alone might have been worth it.

We loved the look of the place. Very inviting. Inside is very nice as well as we wanted this dinner look. Service was great and we got a table quickly. Food was good but basic. Sandwich was a bit bland and the fish and chips were maybe a bit above average. Portions were correct but not large. Coffee is great. The sandwich was the Santorini breakfast sandwich.

Adorable diner. This is a staple restaurant. Usually diner coffee is mediocre, but I really enjoy their coffee. The food tastes like a home cooked meal, straight out of grandmas kitchen. Food comes out fast, and there are very friendly servers. I recommend Henry’s Diner to all. Be aware of the time of day, it does get busy at certain hours of the day, but people usually clear out rather fast. Give them a try!

**AMERICA’S BEST DINER***This place deserves an 11 out of a scale of 10. Everything here exceeds my expectations.I’ve been to a lot of diners in my day, but this one is definitely one of the best. I highly recommend checking it out!

Henry's Diner has been a part of my life since I was a teenager in the 80's and spent my hard earned dollars on a good meal with friends. Things have only become better since then and the prices are still very affordable. There's a reason this place can have a line outside the door, b ut you can beat the lines if you get here early. Great food, great service and the interior is so much better than 'the old days'. Keep doing what you're doing Henry's - I'll keep coming back!
Mel A — Google review
I’ve eaten at Henry’s Diner several times, so my negative review isn't because of one random experience, but a pattern that I’ve seen in the way the staff treat solo customers. The waitresses here seem to be constantly irritated, have an attitude, and they have no problem showing that in your face. If you’re not going there as a couple, large(r) group, or with a bunch of middle-aged men, the staff can be dismissive and treat you like less-than. I usually sit at the bar, and in one or two occasions, I’ve been ignored by the same server who did check, more than once, on the customers sitting exactly next to me. Today at the bar, I took someone’s seat who left just before me. So after I ordered my coffee, I asked the server if she could wipe the part of the counter in front of me that was sticky. I asked this respectfully and in a low voice. The response? A loud, angry “Well if you’d sat in the other spot that was already cleaned … blah blah…” I said “don’t worry about it”, took my stuff and left immediately. Granted, there was one other available seat, but I took the seat at the end because I couldn’t fit my bag at my feet where it was too close to another person. Even if you felt that my request was unfair, why should it be such a big deal that you openly and loudly humiliate your customer in front of everyone at the bar? If you wipe down after everyone leaves anyways, why should it matter so much? It just didn’t warrant that kind of bitterness. I’ve had more than one working-class type of job, and believe me, I get the frustration! But if you’re constantly resentful and irritated, maybe switch to a business that doesn’t need direct interaction with people. You can’t love the money that customers bring in, and at the same time, disrespect them.

Stopped by here looking for brunch. Note we waited about 15 minutes but that's because Burlington was definitely more bustling due to the eclipse. Our waitress and host were incredibly kind. I took our waitress's recommendation and went with the Irish Eggs Benedict while my boyfriend got the chicken fried steak. The food is super delicious -- if you're craving diner food this place will absolutely hit the spot. The price is also fantastic for the quality of the food and the size of it. The ambiance inside too is super cute and bright and it's just a wonderful spot.Highly recommend and will definitely be stopping by again next time I'm in Burlington.

10/10 for food, service and atmosphere. There’s a reason this place has been in business for almost a century. Order the little Henry with biscuit and pancakes and thank me later. Great coffee blend and excellent potatoes. Generous piece of ham. We will be back next time we visit Vermont!

In my experience, when they give you your milkshake along with the big metal cup with even more milkshake, you know the diner is going to be good. We went for brunch on a cold and rainy Sunday morning and it was exactly what we were hoping for. Even though there was a bit of a line outside things moved really quickly. Classic dinner ambiance. The milkshake was amazing. The eggs benny were delicious. Reasonable prices. Super friendly staff. Very quick service. Free refills on the coffee. What more could you ask for?

Both of them were great, service is always quick and super nice. It's s a great diner and I love to sit at the bar top. Their coffee from the VT Coffee Company is great also.

Cute quintessential diner, perfect for my first experience as a tourist who's never been to this type of place. The service was lovely and the food was great - we had the eggs benedict and the chicken fried steak with gravy. It's very popular, so expect a wait, but it wasn't very long even on a Saturday!

Slay mama!! Excellent food and the friendliest staff who really got us in a good mood to start the day. Highlight was the French toast which came with the Hungry Henry we got, was lightly crisped on the outside, soft inside, and tasted like heaven when paired with the syrup. Will be back next time we’re in Burlington!

August First serves delicious American-style food in a welcoming space with outside seating in Burlington, Vermont. The café's open space lets you see the bakers creating their European-style breads and pastries, which are absolutely delicious and make you feel good after you eat them.
August First is the perfect breakfast spot in Burlington if you’re looking for a chill vibe and excellent food and service. The avocado toast is out of this world. So much avocado, topped with pickled onions and everything bagel seasoning. I appreciate the signage to not use laptops was the best remainder to be present in the moment. Don’t forget to buy some pastries on your way out!

Upon walking into this place, I got a warm and relaxed feeling from the the layout of the cafe. The large garage doors opening up to the outside makes it feel like a true gathering place for the community. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and felt that the portion size did not match the price. The bun also reminded me of the same type of bun I would get on a McDonald’s sandwich. I also got some drip coffee to go. If you’re looking for a fresh brew I would recommend checking out an actual coffee shop. There are plenty around burlington. Overall, this place does deliver on a fresh, local bakery experience.

Visited August First for breakfast on a Monday morning. I had a breakfast special and it was very special! I was pleasantly surprised on the perfect cook and blend of all the flavors on my home fries breakfast bowl. The place itself is baking fresh bread using it in their meals, selling it by the loaf and making your nostrils just as happy as your taste buds. The eating area has indoor and outdoor seating and clearly aims to be open air. They encourage no devices sit downs to enjoy your food and your company. It's a very chill environment even when it is getting very busy. They offer a variety of breakfast pastries and you can get it all to go if you're on the move.Service was smooth and fast and they kept everything moving as the lines grew. Pricing was reasonable and we will happily without hesitation keep going back. Enjoy!

Quite disappointed to be honest. I went in with zero expectations so it's not like this place was over hyped or anything but I was pretty disappointed in the food quality but especially the quantity for the price. We had:Day MakerVermonterMaple biscuit. The maple biscuit was nice and moist but really, really REALLY buttery. I've had all butter croissants in France made with half the butter of this. It was very overpowering. The Vermonter was OK, nothing special. The Day Maker was disappointing. One very small bun with a fried egg and barely any condiments. It would be OK at $5 or $6 but $11 for an egg in a roll is a bit of a joke.

Love the laptoplessness! Only critique is portion size - that avo toast was WAY too big, the bread was unpalatably thick. The flavours were delicious, service was fast and the staff very kind. Also would be great to have physical plates for food ordered on location, esp bc it was so messy to eat.

If you're in the city of Burlington and you're looking for the best bread around, look no further than August First. This bustling eatery is known for its incredible baked goods, particularly its bread, which is some of the best you'll find anywhere.Despite the crowds that often gather outside, it's worth braving the line to experience the quality of the bread for yourself. The service can take a bit, but trust us when we say that the bread is worth the wait. If you're a bread lover, you simply can't miss this place.Inside, the atmosphere is lovely and provides a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. It's a cozy and inviting space that feels like a different world entirely. Now, let's talk about the food. We tried the Avocado Toast, the Focaccia (which we used at home for a pesto pasta dinner), and a chocolate cookie, and everything was fantastic. The bread was the perfect amount of airy, and the crust was impressively crispy. The prices were about 10-15 bucks per item, which might seem a bit steep, but when you consider the quality of the bread, it's easily worth it.Overall, I can't recommend August First enough. If you're a bread lover, this is a must-visit spot in the city of Burlington. Just be prepared to wait in line and maybe have a bit of patience with the service. But once you take a bite of that amazing bread, you'll know it was all worth it.

I had the avocado toast with pickled onions and fried egg on top…OMG mouth watering amazingness. Literally the best avocado toast I have EVER had. My husband got the steak and egg sandwich. Fresh ingredients. He’d order it again but make sure to have extra napkins because it’s a little greasy. The place is like a small warehouse and not really air conditioned but it was still nice with a small breeze. People were nice. I will definitely be back!! Thank you!

My maple latte was so good and the maple biscuit was pretty good. I didn’t really taste the maple and was a bit saddened by that. It was a good biscuit just no real maple coming through. The maple butter and jam were delicious just wish they didn’t come in plastic and a more low waste option to serve them was used instead.

The perfect spot for breakfast! After eating here once, we ended up back here every morning for breakfast. Their vegan and vegetarian options are PERFECT for breakfast foodies and not boring at all. The atmosphere is super cute and the building is spacious.

Excellent little local bakery and breakfast shop! We ordered a biscuit and the Eat the East breakfast sandwich with tofu instead of egg and impossible sausage. Both things were delicious! The biscuit came with maple butter and a local fruit jam which paired wonderfully. The sandwich was a very heavy breakfast and I was happy to share. The flavors were fresh and really complemented the sausage and tofu.Highly recommend trying this restaurant if you're in the area! Locals lined up 10 deep before they even opened the door, that's how you know this place rocks!

Great service and atmosphere and the Vermonter sandwich was very nice. However, I ordered a large coffee and it was one of the worst coffees I've ever had - I struggled to get through it. I didn't add sugar but it was extremely sweet.Other than the coffee, a very nice experience.

4. Great cafe with a big menu for breakfast and lunch and lots of amazing looking baked goods. Friendly staff and big open space. The door kept being left open so it was really cold inside. My partner had the breakfast sandwhich which he said was really good but could have benefitted from bacon (not just bacon jam). I had the chickpea salad which was good but there were a number of wilted lettuce pieces which was kind of annoying. They make their chai in-house and it’s great. They only have one alternative milk (oat) and the only option for regular milk is whole milk. They use vegetable oil on their cooktop so not great if you have an allergy to soy.No vegan options in the baked goods section except for the bread which was yummy!

I’ve been coming to August First every time I visit Burlington for the past 2 years - and it never misses! Love their breakfast sandwiches (Eat the East, Day Maker), pastries (banana cream kouign amann pictured), and the dirty home fries were delicious.

This is my favorite cafe/bakery to stop at whenever we’re in Burlington. The food is mind-blowingly good and never disappoints. I usually get a breakfast sandwich and the maple biscuit, which is my favorite biscuit of all time. Ambience is great, drinks are good, and baked items are plentiful.

We stopped in Burlington for a bite to eat and were recommended to try August First. It’s a popular spot with a line out the door when we arrived, but an employee was passing out free sample of their chocolate chip pumpkin bread. It was so delicious that I ordered a piece for myself! I also got the Vermonter sandwich which was pretty good. It comes with turkey, cheese, red onion, Apple chutney and a cranberry mayo. The combination of the mayo and Apple chutney worked well. For a drink I got an iced vanilla latte. It was ok, a little more milk vs. espresso than I’d like. Some other items we ordered were the egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and a chocolate croissant. Their pastries are really the highlight. Freshly made and you can tell.

August First is an absolute gem in the world of breakfast spots! From the moment you step through the door, you're greeted with the most delightful aromas wafting from the kitchen, promising a culinary experience you won't soon forget. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a charming rustic feel that sets the perfect tone for a leisurely morning meal. But what truly sets August First apart is the exceptional service, particularly from the man at the cashier. His warm smile and genuine enthusiasm for what he does are infectious, making you feel like an old friend from the moment you approach the counter. Not only is he efficient and attentive, but he also goes above and beyond to ensure that every customer leaves with a smile on their face. His recommendations are spot-on, reflecting a deep knowledge and passion for the menu offerings. Whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor, he treats everyone with the same level of care and hospitality, creating a welcoming atmosphere that keeps you coming back for more. The food itself is nothing short of spectacular. From freshly baked pastries to hearty breakfast sandwiches, each dish is crafted with care using the finest ingredients. Every bite is a symphony of flavors, leaving your taste buds dancing with delight.Overall, August First is a must-visit for anyone in search of a memorable breakfast experience. And with the added bonus of the coolest man at the cashier, it's sure to become your new favorite spot in town. Don't just take my word for it—stop by and see for yourself!

Great place for lunch! Gets pretty busy, which is a good sign that the menu is amazing. Good french baguette, tried the banh mi with pork belly and it was a nice fusion style, not authentic Vietnamese. "Cinnamon bun" was a bit different and unexpected the cream cheese frosting, still delicious! Must try spot!!

Bingo! Picked as one of the places in Burlington to drink coffee before 9am. They open at 730 sharp and already had a (small and very fast) line.Coffee was strong and delicious. Sandwiches were incredible. Fresh bread and amazing flavor. Definitely returning here for our post concert mornings.

Throughly enjoyed my breakfast here. The establishment was nice and clean. They have separate bins for trash, recycling, and compost. You can opt for silverware or disposable utensils. They also have a "no screens" policy to have you interact with people instead of being buried in your phone. For food, my girlfriend enjoyed the avocado toast, which looked fantastic. She got a fried egg on hers and really enjoyed it. I went with the polenta and eggs. The portion was pretty big. Lots of polenta, large slice of salmon, 2 perfectly poached eggs, and garnished with fresh green onion. Such a great flavorful dish.I also got some cheddar jalapeño bread to go. I wish I didn't live so far or I would be here regularly.

Such a lovely atmosphere for a bakery / coffee shop. They had all kinds of delicious looking baked treats. I went here for breakfast. Coffee was delicious. I ordered blueberry French toast; delicious but buried under pork belly and a large egg. Just a suggestion; make the French toast the hero and get rid of the rich pork belly draped on top (too heavy) and gamey. Just a simple sunny side up egg with no cheese and the pickled onions would be more than enough.Lovely place though and there is a lot of hard work going into the food and pastries 🥐

I came here for a yummy lunch after walking around the area. I was so thrilled that I chose this place! I got the maple biscuit, tofu bahn mi, and an olive loaf! I was torn between two different sandwiches - the staff member was able to explain the different flavor profiles! Whenever I ask, people usually will just say which one is their favorite, so I appreciated the change! Everything was delicious!!

The cider bar Citizen Cider has a vast selection of ciders to choose from, with specialties and core lines that are sure to please any cider lover. They also have gluten-free drinks, so Fido can come along for the ride. The outdoor seating is perfect for spending a summer day drinking some delicious cider.
We were planning to just grab a drink and then go somewhere else for dinner, but the menu here looked better than the one that was recommended. We shared the chicken sandwich and the poutine. I gave them 4 stars for food because the poutine was okay, although I wish it had more meat on it. The chicken sandwich was very good, though. Loved the vibe and atmosphere here.

**Update @ bottom**So I’m at an impasse on how to correctly grade and review this establishment. First let me say that the food and drinks are some of the best I’ve ever experienced. Seriously best food of 2021 hands down. The large majority of the staff are friendly…. Although, the bartender We had today seemed that our presence was more of an annoyance than anything else. I can’t remember really ever giving a bad review based off a single employee but today’s experience was “odd”!??? Don’t ruin the rest of the environment if you are having a bad day…. Which we all have on days but I would not take it out on my customers. So restaurant rating minus this employee 4-5 stars…. Including is the result I posted.**UPDATE**As I stated in above post we really did enjoy this establishment so we decided to give it another shot that I believe was deserved. And we had a much more pleasant experience this time around. Definitely try their specialty cocktails and the apple infused sausage

Citizen Cider was on my Burlington bucket list. I must say the cider I've had before and it was even better fresh! The flights are a great way to try them all.The food was great as well. Usually the food isn't great if a place is known for drinks. The burger I got was delicious! Can't wait to come back.

Food was excellent, service was friendly. Facility was beautiful and open air, which is very appreciated. The brussels sprouts were the most flavorful I've had in my life, the big mac imitation was truly spot on, and the pub mac and cheese was a winner. Ciders were on the dry side, so bear that in mind in accordance with your preferences.
Vinnie P — Google review
The food and drinks were not the best and were mediocre but I liked the idea that you could try different ciders in one order (their flight option). However it might be usual in the US:)), it was interesting for me. But the restaurant environment was so nice and cozy.

Can’t believe that a Vermont company puts out a product in an aluminum can that isn’t returnable!!!! We are a green state!! We like the product but won’t buy it at the stores!!UPDATE to your comment!! That was a very long poor excuse!! I know that it’s possible to have a 5 cent can return in VT on cider because we drink Mac&Maple hard cider from Champlain orchards and their cans are returnable. Just saying you’re a VT company in a green state so you should care about the environment a little more. You’re producing a lot of cans that end up in the landfill.!! Make a call to Champlain orchards and find out how they changed VT legislation to have their cans returnable.

Come for the cider, drink the cider and stay for the cider. The cider here is fantastic and in my fruity flight I enjoyed all of them. Simply put it you enjoy cider at all you'll want to come here and enjoy yourself. It's a nice setting with indoor and outdoor seating. You can buy various packs of the cider right there. Now the food, it was good! The wings I had were delicious! The burger was cooked perfectly to order and the salad was a salad... My friends had other items they enjoyed as well and everyone left satisfied. If it wasn't clear the cider is the main attraction and you'll likely enjoy grabbing a bite to eat as well. Staff was kind, service was quick and pricing was legit.

I enjoy all Citizen Ciders, which I can get many in the store, but I go to the tasting room to try hard ciders that are limited release and can’t be found in the stores. This goes well with most of the apps and sandwiches available. It is also a great place to bring kids as they have hot dogs, burgers and fries which are kid friendly along with their canned non-alcoholic ciders. Great spaces to dine and excellent staff.

Citizen Cider is a good restaurant close to downtown Burlington, Vermont - not the best restaurant in the city, but a good one if you’re craving gastropub-y food! There are a lot of great gluten-free options which is a massive benefit to this place. We got a couple of different non-alcoholic drinks made with their All Times drinks (which were very good), the fried artichokes, Seoul tots, Pine St. poutine, fried Brussels sprouts, and the Citizen smash burger - literally all of that was gluten-free, believe it or not! We had mixed opinions about a couple of dishes, but we did really enjoy the Pine St. poutine, fried artichokes, and fried Brussels sprouts. Maybe skip the burger we got - that’s my only suggestion. All in all, this was a good place with great service and definitely one we would go to again if we were craving the type of food we got. You will probably enjoy it!
Michael — Google review
Citizen Cider offers a pleasant dining experience with very good food, though not exceptional. What sets them apart is their dog-friendly policy, which adds a welcoming touch to the atmosphere. While the cuisine might not reach the heights of greatness, the overall experience is enjoyable, making it a solid choice for those looking for a pet-friendly dining option.Drinks are good! After hearing about Citizen Cider, yeah not a fan.

Make sure you have room in your car to bring a few cans back with you with some truly unique blends of Cider! Will be back again on our next travels through Burlington!

I visited Citizen Cider Pub, where I had a grilled cheese sandwich with mozzarella and provolone. While the sandwich was a bit bland on its own, the tomato basil dipping sauce added a much-needed burst of flavor, creating a nice balance. I tried a frozen cocktail, though the flavors felt a bit off to me, much like the sandwich and sauce—possibly just a combination of flavors I’m not used to. A side salad, which, despite the extra charge, was surprisingly delicious. The pub features a welcoming atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating, and garage-style doors that enhance the open-air vibe. The location is a bit off the usual tourist paths and somewhat difficult to access, which is something to consider. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience with some unique tastes.

Nice little bar to get a drink on a hot day! The drinks are reasonable in terms of price. Servers are nice although there was a younger women in training who put the drink down on the table but seemed very shy. That's okay since it's clear she's in training. I'd come back although not sure I'd have a cocktail cider.

Its sandwiches are great for grabbing before going to the library or hanging out with friends - either way, Handy's always provides a good time.
Amazing!! The food is awesome. The seats may not be suitable for larger humans, but we sat near the entrance. Amazing find while we were on vacation! The owner, Earl (aka Duke of Burlington) knew the locals by name and made us feel so welcome! Wow.. where to start. I walked in and I was transported back to my mother's kitchen. The aromatic smell of coffee and bacon. I started foaming at the mouth. Kidding. Maybe.Anyhow, they were lovely. The waitress greeted me with a kiss on the forehead and a belly rub. I purchased the Big-Daddy Breakfast, and I was wholly satisfied. Pancakes, eggs, potatoes, toast, bacon, sausage, and love all for $11. I would have loved some peanut butter straight from the jar, but they told me that wasn't an option. I did rummage in the back though, and I found a leftover pork bone to nibble on.Overall, it was a great breakfast, and, Handy, if you're reading this, I promise I won't slobber on the other customers the next time I come in. I just get excited sometimes.

Handy’s is the authentic diner experience, conveniently close to the train station. All seating is around a U-shaped counter. Next time, I’ll ask for a stronger brew of coffee. Overall a homey spot for breakfast.

This place is great, your quintessential greasy spoon diner! It was busy when we arrived, but there were a few open seats still available at the counter. They only have counter seating, but there are about 13-15 seats. I ordered eggs and bacon which came with home fries and choice of toast, I chose rye. My sister tried the SST which she said was beyond amazing. My food was hot and very tasty too. Definitely a locals type place, but they didn't flinch an eye when us "strangers" showed up. One of the best breakfast places I've ever been to! Super unique selection of food and everything was amazingly flavorful I was at a loss of words at how good everything tasted. Our bartender / waitress also gave us very good service and was nice to talk to. The atmosphere is fun too, probably good for kids to enjoy. Went here with my group of friends from all over. Service was awesome, and our waiter was very friendly and charismatic. We all got different things. All were good, but a crowd favorite were the menu items using bulgogi. Their jumbo tater tot appetizer was also a highlight. Soooo good. The decor inside and vibes were really neat. I also left my engagement ring in the bathroom, panicked, called them, and they stayed a bit after closing to wait for me to come back and get it. Cannot thank them enough for that. Between the vibes, hospitality, and food, I recommend giving it a visit.

We got the Some Like it Tot, which are giant tots filled with Vermont cheddar and topped with a maple and sriracha sauce, caramelized onions, and sour cream and chives. The app was served with our meals. My friend got the Monster Breakfast with pancakes and I got the Hash Quiche with fruit. We both opted for water as our drinks.Everything was delicious but the fruit was definitely on its way out. I didn’t send it back because my friend picked at it.The server was very sweet and attentive.Ten hours later we were still full.It would be nice to come back and experience Burlington in the summer. The ding on the fifth star is because they wouldn’t seat us without our whole party. Normally this isn’t a big deal as it’s standard practice, but the town was extremely quiet being just two days after Christmas and there was seating available.

I'm celiac and this was one of the best gluten free experienced I've ever had. I had a fried chicken sandwich and pancakes. Everything was marked safe and the food quality was incredible. Also dairy free friendly.

This was a fun experience. My boyfriend and I are staying at Hotel Vermont. It is a 6 minute walk from the front door to this place which I like because I hate parking on the side of the road. The food has comical names, like the Highway Strawberry and Monster Breakfast. One of the tea drink options is called "this basil slaps". The decor is hectic to say the least, but in an authentic way. Food quality was so good. As I said, I got the Highway Strawberry. Think of a chocolate Strawberry, tear it down to its basics and add French Toast. My boyfriend got Monster; bacon (he asked for a slight chew to it and they did), eggs, French toast, and home fries. Emma was our server and she is a true diner waitress, was quick to give us an additional plate for my teabag, my hot water, his coffee. The prices are also extremely reasonable. Don't let the dollar signs on Google concern you.

I left a dull IHOP and came here because of the ratings. Walked in and had breakfast at the bar. It was so clean there and organized. The lighting and the decorations above the bar was cool! The menu is large and everything looks so good.

We felt like we were at The Max from Saved by the Bell!! HeheGreat location, wonderful food, and delightful service! They handled my food allergies wonderfully and the food was DELICIOUS! The gluten free pancake was massive and we ended up taking half of it home for lunch but oh man it was so good!Highly recommend this for breakfast, wonderful spot to sit back and enjoy a delicious meal!

This place has such a cool vibe, the art is super cool and random, the food is AMAZING! Our waitress was very nice and super helpful all around 10/ 10 would recommend. We had the churro bite app as the starter with that jam sooooo gooood! And the burrito was amazing

Such a vibe here!!! Love the funky decor- you could spend all day admiring their funky art, random items hanging on the wall etc! We stopped in for breakfast- it was busy but we had no issue being seated right away! Great staff! We love that they have a massive breakfast/brunch menu that INCLUDES vegan choices! 85% of the menu isn’t vegan but what they do offer that is vegan- is amazing!!The vegan chocolate chip pancakes were honestly some of the best vegan pancakes I’ve EVER had! Super massive- dense- flavorful! Loved that the pancake was moist & soft. Had a side of vegan sausage on the side! The pancakes were so tasty I didn’t even need maple syrup for them! That’s how you KNOW a pancake is banging! 🥞🥞Staff was super friendly! It was a busy day & the food came out quickly regardless! If in the area- the Friendly Toast is a MUST! They have something for everyone & their food is sooooo yummy!!!

My favourite brunch in all of Burlington! The way their waiting list works is so good because you can walk around while you wait but it usually goes by fairly quickly.Every meal I’ve tried has been perfect. My personal favourite is the Huevos Rancheros.Every beverage and cocktail is delicious and they often have seasonal specials. The staff is also always extremely friendly and welcoming.

Wonderful, funky, breakfast, brunch, and lunch spot. Fantastic Bloody Mary, Bennys, and their home fries are simply delicious! Portions are perfect…not too big nor too small! Give them a try for great food, and friendly service!
Christina P — Google review
Definitely an overrated place… The food is not worth it for the price they charged: 1. food is not served warm 2. Small portion for what they’re charging (maybe good enough for breakfast but def not brunch) 3. Sourdough, toast and hash brown we ordered are soggy, not crispy at all… The waffle fries is soggy too😅😅

What a fun experience! I've never been here before and what a treat! The waitstaff was so friendly and amazing service. I wish I had got the flight of coffees but inside tried their espresso yourself (soooo good!) And a shandys painkiller ( don't judge I was on vacation and not driving 😁)The food oh my gosh compliments to the cheff! which I know I hear it's hard to find a good one!We got huevos rancheros...and veggie omelet and tried their Churro appetizer 🤤I can't wait to come back and try more!

Was recommended this place by a friend and it was beyond my expectations. The drinks were delicious, perfectly crafted. The food was incredible.. so many different options and everything we ordered was unique and delicious. But what really made the experience was the staff - from seeing how they interact with each other, to dealing with a difficult customer, to providing friendly service while also being extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the menu.. 10/10. Samuel and Emma were phenomenal.Definitely check this place out!!

The Café HOT is a Chinese restaurant that offers some of the most delicious and original meals you'll ever taste. The chefs here are masters at creating addictive dishes that will keep you coming back for more. Everything on the menu is mouth-wateringly good, so there's something for everyone to enjoy. Plus, the atmosphere here is truly special - it's like stepping into a China scented dreamland!
The cafe hot. Was a spiritual experience. Highly recommend the coffee + coke as well as whatever bonuts they have that day. The biscuits are 🔥 and I love them with the maple Chile jam. Staff is also on point and super friendly. Go. Now.

I'm glad I came here thinking I was getting an actual fried chicken sandwich. As soon as I bit into the 8 special, I thought to myself "how did they get chicken to be this juicy?" Then I realized it wasn't chicken, but a masterfully crafted egg fried like the best of the best fried chickens. Truly, the best non chicken fried chicken sandwich I ever had —even among actual chicken sandwiches. A happy accident and a genius concoction. Bravo to the culinary masterminds behind this and the super kind staff.

Fantastic sandwiches and drinks! We ordered the breakfast sandwich and the number nine, an iced coffee and the maple hot chocolate and the chocolate croissant donut. The atmosphere and decor of the place is so cute. Would love to go back!

The chicken fried egg was next level good. I’ll be dreaming about this place until we visit again. The Gbc is a must if you’re looking for something sweet. The staff rocks super friendly and helpful!

Amazing. Wish we were staying in Burlington longer just so I could order again and again. The secret sandwich was the best breakfast sandwich I’ve had in my life. It was all so delicious.

First time here, the Cafe HOT team totally crushed it. Food, service, and vibe were all excellent. We had the Raven (crunchy, smoky, savory, added griddled cheese and loved that) and the Brakefast (fresh, delicious, harissa was a nice touch), and an outrageous donut.Drinks were well made (flat white and cappuccino). Great spot, will return!
Anna H — Google review
The food here is incredible! Really truly incredible. Honestly earnestly incredible! If I lived here I would come every day. I ordered the Raven Sammich both times I went, I couldn’t not! I just couldn’t not.Their aesthetic is good too, and their staff are really nice too. The atmosphere is fun too!

We stopped by here for fuel prior to our long 8 mile hike. The food was absolutely delicious and worth every single dime. We got the breakfast sandwich, one with avocado. The harissa provided an extra kick of flavor. It absolutely provided us the fuel and energy for the 8 mile hike. The service at the restaurant was absolutely fantastic. There was ample seating in the restaurant. We would absolutely return again. 10/10 worth it.
Susan T — Google review
This place had some of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had.The brakefast sandwhich had perfectly cooked eggs and a nice crispy piece of cheese on a soft seeded bun. The smear of harissa really pulled the sandwich together. The person at the counter convinced us to try the number 8 chicken sandwich as well. I'm very glad we did. It honestly tastes like a fried chicken sandwich, but it's eggs. Not as good as the brakefast for breakfast, but still really good.We also tried the key lime donut that was made with biscuit batter. Very rich flavor but super dense because of the batter. By no means it a conventional donut but 100% worth getting and trying. Absolutely delicious.

OMG. I doubt there’s a wrong choice from this menu just go with your flavor palette. I chose the Raven adding a egg and bun and it was phenomenal. The entire staff were friendly and engaging and super helpful when placing orders there any donuts that are often seasonal. Also, try them while you can. I loved the GBC and the Wawa melon Choco donut too. I enjoyed a surprising Espresso Tonic Elixir too.
C L — Google review
I adore everything about this place: the staff, the decor, the music, the atmosphere, and of course the food. The sandwiches are works of art, truly unlike anything you’ve seen before, and yet they still manage to be approachable and affordable. The Raven is my grandmother’s new favorite sandwich of all time. The bo-nuts cannot be missed (flavors change daily) Just walking in the door turns any morning around. Excellent coffee as well. An absolute gem

We came here in Dec 2021 when it was just the takeout window. Forgot to review but we loved it so much we came back in Feb 2024. The staff are all so nice and friendly, and the owners/brothers are on site. The bonuts are so good - refreshing take on donuts and biscuits with some unique flavors. And that GBC - so so gooey and tasty! But the stars of the day are the Breakfast Sandwich and Number 8. Breakfast sandwich tasted so fresh, and the harissa is a nice touch of mild heat. Number 8 has a good amount of heat, and it’s unbelievable that it’s not chicken! We are so impressed by this great breakfast spot that is worth every penny and wish them continued success!
Lauren D — Google review
It was clear when I walked in that this was going to be a special place. The owner, Travis, chatted with me as I waited for what may have been one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had. I was super impressed with how clean and well labeled everything was - this is a well-oiled sandwich machine.
Felipe M — Google review
A real gem - Not gimmicky, just good food and good vibes! I got the raven (gluten free!) with griddled cheese, as recommended by the person helping me order, and it was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a while! Ironically, I wish it was spicier… so, don’t be like me and remember to order hot sauce with it! My friends love their chicken-fried egg sandos, which is a GENIUS take on a vegetarian breakfast sandwich IMO. They also threw in a free sample of the mochi cake:) Moral of the story, go here! It’s full of friendly faces and in a great location for exploring Burlington.

Café Saint Paul is a trendy spot located on St. Paul Street, offering a hipster vibe and a diverse menu. From classic breakfast options like breakfast burritos and sandwiches to unique dishes such as "The Vermonter" with apples and maple syrup, this café has something for everyone. Customers praise the delicious turkey melt, Korean fried chicken sandwich, and accommodating staff who cater to specific requests.
This is an awesome sandwich shop, and I don't make that recommendation lightly. To me the sandwich represents one of life's greatest, simplest pleasures. I can't seem to get off of the fried chicken sandwich, but I'm guessing the other food is equally good. My wife's vegan, and their vegan sandwich was really good, not just vegan good. Friendly staff. Clean and tidy front seating areas and grill, nice little outdoor cafe. Definitely worth a trip.
Mark S — Google review
Coffee was cheaply priced but very mid. I only had a bagel, which was fine. The prepared plates I saw people eating looked yummy. Prices are very reasonable, but for a quick cup of coffee and baked good there are definitely better spots in Burlington.

Great place, low key dining. Great breakfast burrito! Definitely in the Burlington top five. Eggs amazing which is one of my highest marks, otherwise spice and seasoning underwhelming. Bring your own spices and hot sauce.

I come to Cafe Saint Paul at least once a week, and only had great experiences there! The person taking orders is always so helpful, and the kitchen staff are very accommodating to specific asks (like a scrambled egg instead of a fried egg on toast).I just wish the strawberry French toast would come back, I never got to try it ;(

Great lunch spot with indoor and outdoor seating. Had a great chicken sandwich, their menu had a good variety to it and the staff was very nice. They have also done a good job to ensure their cafe is accessible for folks with mobility aids.
Maria — Google review
Service has really gone downhill lately. Add 15-20 mins to whatever wait time they tell you. Tried order items that required no cooking so I wouldn't lose half my lunchbreak (coldcut sandwich and salad) and it was still 20 mins late. Ceasars salad doesn't even come with Ceasar dressing.
Taylor V — Google review
It took an hour an a half for me to get this cold piece of toast with some avocado on it. Atmosphere is cute, but service is bad and food does not come as described on the menu (this item was supposed to have greens, etc). Will not be returning. There are too many better cafes in Burlington.
Allison C — Google review
staff is very nice. they seem understaffed/very busy a lot of the times. I recommend, if you place an order for pick up, to come earlier than the time. Sometimes I come right on time, and its already cold, which if you get fries, they wont be the same after the microwave. it is understandable but that is just some feedback as room for growth. everything else, im happy with and come here quite often.
Beto S — Google review
The prices were great and the staff was friendly. The food came out quick and was delicious. They also had a lot of vegetarian options including vegetarian/vegan sausage.
Jessica F — Google review
The food can be on the slow end to come out, so don't come here if you are in a hurry, but these are easily some of the breakfast sandwiches ever. Their Vermonter is a must-try. This is a safe bet for taking any visiting friends or out of staters for fresh VT food. The prices are also reasonable.

If Saint Paul the Apostle ate here he’d be spreading the word about this spot.I hit up Cafe St. Paul for lunch and will absolutely be back for more. The turkey melt was toasted, loaded and slathered to perfection and the kombucha selection made my day.Im 50% Korean but the Korean fried chicken sandwich 100% slaps. Located in a beautiful Vermont clapboard house, Penny Cluse is usually packed with hungry customers on a typical pre-pandemic Saturday. Famous figures like Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders have dined at the cafe in the past. The menu includes seasonal gingerbread pancakes called "Bucket of Spuds," chili-lime chicken served with coconut rice, and other creative options.
We were told that during our trip to Burlington, we had to make a trip to Penny Cluse Cafe for their famous Bucket-o-Spuds! They were definitely tasty, and they certainly didn’t skimp on the toppings. I was honestly expecting more home fries when I heard “bucket”, but was thankful that this was the amount brought out because we were able to finish it. It was a little tough to justify ordering it because so many of the breakfasts came with home fries already, but we were on vacation and decided to go for it. We were happy with our meals, and appreciated how attentive the staff was with refilling coffee. I can see why this is a popular place!

Made it just in time on aug1 before they have a short store break from aug2-11. We arrived a little before 9am and the store was packed! There were no available tables and were told to check back in 15mins. True to their word, they had a table left for us when we returned 15mins later. Service staff were friendly and helpful with everything that we needed. Food options were aplenty. Coffee from the jar did not really suit my palate though. I did not get through more than 2-3 mouthfuls of it.The plain pancake taken with butter and maple syrup was a great choice. I liked my griddled egg and cheese sandwich with sourdough bread. The sourdough was really... sour. The potato salad from my friend's portion of, i am not sure what was great. She agreed so too. I could have more of that! A bustling little store. Loved the vibes. Will be back on my next visit to Vermont!

DELICIOUS brunch, but be prepared to wait around an hour or two before having a table because it is always crowdedThe Huevos Rancheros and Huevos Verdes and the buttermilk pancake were very good plates and everything tasted fresh. The service was quick, the food is affordable and the staff is lovely. If you are in the Burlington area, definitely check out Penny Cluse for brunch!

It's SO loud! Dirty dishes get thrown into plastic tubs in the dining area and the design is not set up to absorb extra noise. Acoustically it is excessively loud. Service was very good! Food was above average. Diverse breakfast menu oh, good for those who are vegetarians.

Good brunch place in Burlington recommended by our Airbnb host.We really liked the pancakes (we reordered), the savory dishes were good but we were a tad disappointed. If you're into huevos rancheros you'll be happy here, they have a few variations of the dish. They have full liquor license and serve great cocktails for a boozy brunch.
Rémy L — Google review
The food was good and the staff were very friendly, my only complaint is that there isn't enough meat with the dishes (hence 4 stars and not 5). As you can see from the pic you only really get one sausage with your dish, and although it tasted good it left me hungry for more.

1st time here. Really nice that they take limited reservations so they can offer personalized service even during pandemic times. Attentive service. Chef came around to check and chat with everyone. Ambiance and food (escargot, mousse, moules-frites) were fine. The mushroom tart was amazing and one of the best martinis I've had in Burlington. We did have heightened expectations, with all the hype and good reviews, possibly making me more critical than with other restaurants but overall it was a very lovely night and we're looking forward to dining here more in the future.

WOW. Wow! Through a crazy turn of events, my husband and I unexpectedly ended up here in Burlington for a several days. On our last night before heading to Boston, we decided to go out to dinner and found this hidden gem. We have dinned in some of the best restaurants in the world, and the memories of many of those meals blur into each other. This meal will be one that we will remember for years to come. How fortunate Vermonters are to have this amazing chef and restaurant. We had the tasting menu with a wine pairing. The beef cheek (AND its sauce) was fabulous. My main course (a mushroom taste) was outstanding. And the Paris-Brest pastry was to die for. Outstanding service. Excellent special occasion / romantic dinner location. Pricy but worth every single penny.

Amazing! Our expectations were exceeded on every level. We have been fortunate to eat at wonderful restaurants all over the world and this was a meal that we will certainly always remember! Anna, Abbot and Amy (a very knowledgeable sommelier), took great care of us and the wine pairing was excellent). The Chef is obviously classically trained and the food and presentation was textbook (very friendly fellow as well). I could go into great detail about every course, but the bottom line is - just go and enjoy this wonderful slice of Europe in Vermont. Thank You so much, J&K

I love French cuisine and this French bistro was the perfect place to celebrate my 58th birthday. This place has a warm, cozy, romantic inviting atmosphere. They paid attention to detail and were very attentive to all of our needs. We had escargot, Duck, pan seared veal sweetbread, tarte au citron en verrin, the tarte tatin poire and pan seared cod, glazed root vegetables. Everything was excellent except the cappuccino. We’re looking forward to going back and we recommend this place. Merci et à la prochaine fois.

Lovely atmosphere, great location! We got the prix fixe with wine pairing, and appreciated having some options to choose from. I got the lobster creme brulee (a bit unusual but delightful) and my wife got the escargot (best she'd had). The fish was a delight and the moule frite were as expected. Not too notable except the huge portion! Then finished with chocolate mousse and the tarte citrine, which was effectively a lemon square pudding in a jar, which i loved. If we find ourselves in burlington again we will come back here for sure!

Despite my uncultured palate, I had a great experience at Bistro de Margot. The servings were perfectly sized, with delightful flavors and bites I have never encountered before. I absolutely love French cuisine and have been to France a couple times. This restaurant does not meet the mark. The good: the service was wonderful and the cocktails were decent. The amuse bouche bean dish hit the spot and so did the bread (but that’s made by O Bread offsite). The bad: we started with the smoked salmon. The salmon itself was fine but combination of flavors was off (endive did not belong). My husband got a fish dish and it was undercooked. The best part of the moules frites were the frites. The kicker for me that really bumped it to 2 stars was the Paris Brest. The choux pastry is not made fresh and was burnt. The cream was also slightly separated. It was evident the dessert came straight from the fridge. (It might be helpful to note that I’m a pastry chef.)I really wanted to like this restaurant, but it left much to be desired.
Taylor L — Google review
Food, drinks and service were great, Josh was an exceptional server and is extremely knowledgeable and polite. I suggest splurging for the three course tasting menu as it’s the best value. Only critique is the atmosphere of this restaurant doesn’t match the classic French cuisine or the quality of the food.

Splash At The Boathouse is a waterfront restaurant that offers stunning views of Lake Champlain. It has indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a bar on the floating dock. It serves a full menu, but the real attraction is the breathtaking views. Whether you're in the mood for food or just want to take in the view, Splash At The Boathouse is an unforgettable Burlington experience.
Perfect spring lunch on the water. First day open for the season on a beautiful spring day so there was a wait. Put your name in and stroll the boardwalk or grab a brew at the bar.Lobster Cobb salad was excellent. Fish tacos were very good - but they are not fried so more of a fish salad taco. Sweet potato fries are perfectly crispy. Have a Fiddlehead draft and enjoy the view of the Adirondacks across Lake Champlain. Is that Champy?

Great location right on Burlington waterfront. Pretty extensive draft and drink list with options for everyone. Service was great and the food was good. The prices are very reasonable considering the location on waterfront. The dishes aren't huge, but good quality. The nachos were good, but if you have a big party or even a party of 4 would suggest getting 2 orders. The Montreal smoked meat sandwich was good but didn't have a lot of meat on sandwich which is pretty typical if you got one up in Canada. The beef brisket looked fantastic and will be trying that next time I come. The Fish and chips were delicious, loved the lighter batter which was perfectly fried.

Luckily got there shortly before they closed for the season. Good food, great view! We ended up ordering a lot of fried food, it was just our vibe at the time. But I'd like to go back and try some of the other options. Small but decent beer selection. If you're around and the wait isn't super long, you should go.

The location is absolutely beautiful and the service was great. They also allow dogs which was a bonus for us. The food however was just so-so for the price. I expected a $29 lobster roll to be amazing, and it really wasn’t at all. I’d definitely come here again for the atmosphere though!
Alexa S — Google review
Will not go back, unless they change the food/drink quality. The only good thing about this place is the amazing view, but yet the bad food only brings a sentiment of a wasted opportunity for this location. The LOBSTER ROLL was horrible, not fresh, w/ almost no seasoning and no salad. They gave us a drink that tasted like bad water. The fries were ok, but I paid the price of a good lobster roll plate… so I was very disappointed. Our server was nice but not accommodating, she refused that my friends will sit on my table as I was the only one eating food (they ordered drinks) … I understand if it’s rush hour but it was 3pm and at least 5 tables available… why so many disappointments?

The view is unbeatable, the food is skipable. We've eaten here a few times now to sit and enjoy the lake/Mountain view. The menu is kinda small, but the biggest let down is that none of it is good. Seems like frozen bar snacks and sub par lunch items. If you are just looking for a cocktail and some vitamin D, this is your spot. Expect a wait if you are going at Sunset.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Perfect weather for my first visit to SPLASH next to the ECHO center in Burlington VT. Stayed three hours overlooking Lake Champlain enjoying my friends, the weather, Spirit of Ethan Allen ferry boat ⛴ passing by, the beautiful sunset and people watching. Paul our waiter was effective, efficient, attentive and got all four of our orders correct all night. Highly recommend.

Absolutely loved the atmosphere. Sitting outside on the waters of Lake Champlain at sundown is amazing. The food was delicious, some of the best fish and chips I've had in a long time. The waitress was polite and friendly and kept checking on us to see if we needed anything. I highly recommend eating here if you get the chance. One of the most relaxing dining experiences in Burlington.

our favorite is main lobster rolls with butter. But the sliders only comes with one and there are ZERO substitutes. The lobsrster roll itsels was a mayo based, again no substitutions. The spicy one was garbage. I am paying for a premium meat, and can't taste it. Now the butter was was KILLER! And sitting on the dock with a gentle breeze was amazing. Would we come here again? Yes, I believe so. That most fair was amazing. The service was good enough. I just wish they had the option to get just buttered main lobster rolls.

First time trying out this place, it was amazing, the view worth a million bucks itself. Let’s talk about the food, I ordered the soup of the day it was jerked chicken and rice it was perfectly seasoned spicy to the right point. The coconut shrimps were amazing, the lobster roll however beyond this world. Our waitress her name is Lisa she was very friendly. This was their opening weekend and it loved it. First time and won’t be the last.

Food, service and atmosphere were all exceptional. I had the splash burger and my wife had a grilled chicken wrap... both delicious. Minimal wait to be served. We loved dining on Lake Champlain as the sail boats floated by.

Right on the waterfront area of Burlington. The service staff was welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious. I would recommend the fish and chips and the pulled pork tacos. Yummy! Having a meal here and watching the sun set over the Adirondacks is just breathtaking. You can come here to have drinks and/or a meal. They do have boats dock which can get in the way of the view so make sure you plan accordingly. Definitely check this place out!

Food was tasty and came out quick. Atmosphere was great right by the water and a great view especially on a day with a beautiful sunset. Service was not great waitress seemed annoyed with everything we would ask for. It started raining halfway through dinner and staff rushed to put everyone’s umbrella down leaving all tables in the rain not asking anyone to get under the roof until about 5 minutes into the storm leaving food to be rained on. Potentially the first storm of the season and they were not prepared but they should get a plan in order for when it does start to storm. Maybe we caught them on a bad day ( too early in the season?) but overall disappointed with our experience.

We’re here visiting Burlington for the first time. We saw this place on Google maps and my 10 year old immediately said she wanted fish and chips. We walked down around 3:30pm and were welcomed and quickly seated. There was no wait at all. Coming between meals is likely your best bet. I hear this place can get packed. The waiter was quick to get our drinks and app order. The chips and salsa were good. We ordered a salmon BLT (excellent), fish tacos (wife loved them) and a child’s fish and chips. I’ll be honest, I took a bite and those were some of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had.The atmosphere here is unmatched. The view of the lake and the fact that you’re literally on the dock make you forget your in Burlington VT and feel more like a tropical location. This place was great and we’ll be back next time we visit

Beautiful location right on the water. The food is basic bar food but tastes good. Great drinks. The staff was very nice. The birw from our seat was amazing.

What a VIBE! You get to dine on the dock! Absolutely amazing views. The staff is great and checked in on us from time to time! Took the delicious clam chowdah and their "dock-tails" (always appreciate a good pun) rock the dock and St. Germain! Would visit again when I'm in the area to catch sunsets over some good food!PS: on my second visit I really liked fish n chips and pulled pork tacos.

Been here a bunch. As many stated the location on the water with beautiful views and beachy vibes is Splash's draw. Having a drink, watching the sun set, and listening to summery music is great. The drinks, if not the specials, are average priced. The staff has always been attentive. The drawback is the food, for what it is, is expensive. Basic burger is $17 and the fish tacos are $19 😬 plus they're nothing special. Lobster Cobb and sliders are great although $25-30, but lobster anywhere in Burlington is pricey. We'll be back, just not as often with the prices creeping higher.

The Daily Planet, a Burlington VT eclectic restaurant, offers creative dishes with a focus on freshness and flavor. The restaurant is airy and has an outdoor patio area for alfresco dining in summer. You can expect to find flavorful artistic combinations on your plate at this funky bar, tranquil solarium or romantic dining room.
Okay the food here tasted AMAZING!! We loved our vegan nachos, soup and salmon dishes. Portions were slightly on the smaller size for the price but we felt the flavor still made it worth it. We really appreciate the fun and tasty mocktail menu too! Overall, The Daily Planet menu has options for everyone, incredible vibes and attentive service. If you are visiting Burlington and trying to have a fun dinner out, this is the place!

Very glad to have found this place! Came here for dinner with the fiancé, and right away we enjoyed the cozy and charming atmosphere. I got the Left on Mars, which is made with a jalapeño infused tequila that packs a nice punch without being overwhelming. For dinner, we shared the Nikki's nachos, spicy green beans, and seared cauliflower. All of it was tasty and full of flavor! The cauliflower in particular was a standout, as it had a nice char and the hummus paired with it perfectly. Would definitely come back here!

Staff was quite friendly. Restaurant was lively while still had seating without reservation.Appreciated that they had many vegan items, and they were clearly marked on the menu. Got the grilled sausage sandwich with Beyond Meat Bratwurst and greens. Enjoyed the fresh ingredients and flavors!

Was really looking forward to our visit here, but can only give the food 4 stars. It may have been an off day but the soup had an odd texture and very little flavor. The sauce and the peanut butter on the hoagie were very heavy. Fries very l were very good, as was the protein quinoa bowl. Drinks were great with some great mocktails, too, no issues there. The ambience was very nice and the servers were lovely. Would try again on another visit.

Pretty good place with nice atmosphere. The food was good and I liked their cocktail options. The Solarium is very beautiful, but be mindful that it's little chilly in the winter months, cause I think there is no heating in that area.

Our visit to The Daily Planet on July 1st turned out to be the highlight of our trip to Burlington. Our server was wonderful and attentive, which was amazing because it appeared that she was the only server in the restaurant. She was just fantastic while she juggled at least 10 tables and made it look easy. The food was simply excellent. I had the double butter burger which definitely hit the spot with its fresh ingredients and delicious bun. My vegetarian dining companion (who doesn't like most veggie burgers) had the falafel burger and raved about it. We both had the regular fries and they were satisfyingly crispy on the outside and potato-y on the inside. We will definitely be back the next time we're in town!

Unique nacho selection. It was yummy, however could not fit the steak sandwich. My girlfriend would not split with me. Go for the burger or the steak sandwich

Went here with my mother while on a trip to Burlington for the weekend. She loved the food, I personally thought it was pretty decent. I LOVED both of the nachos options they have, strongly suggest it to anyone who's looking for any suggestions. Mocktails were really good, and best of all, the service and atmosphere was great! Waitress was kind, tables were all neat, and I'm not sure if it was a slow day or not, but it seemed as if we were one of maybe 4-5 parties inside the restaurant during our stay. Honestly, amazing experience overall, a little pricey, but it was worth my time and money!

I recently dined at The Daily Planet, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The parmesan truffle fries with the magic sauce were an absolute standout—crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. They were the perfect complement to the star of the show: the steak sandwich. The sandwich was packed with tender, juicy steak, cooked to perfection, and bursting with flavor in every bite. It was simply amazing! To top it off, the service was impeccable, thanks to the wonderful assistant who made sure everything was just right. Their attentiveness and warm demeanor added to the overall fantastic dining experience. I can't wait to return!

The Daily Planet was a great experience. We had 2 delicious local ciders, with a Mac and cheese appetizer. It was incredible, one of the best homemade Mac and cheese dishes I've had in a very long time. Dinner was the Salmon and Steak dishes respectively. They were delicious, cooked to perfection. We tried polenta for the first time as well with the Salmon dish and I enjoyed it! Then we had the milk chocolate creme brulee and poached pear and we were disappointed. They were fine, but they weren't the home runs everything else was for the night. That happens sometimes though, nothing appeared wrong with the desserts themselves, might just be our taste preferences. Service was wonderful and food was well spaced and paced! Enjoy!

The Planet is iconic in Burlington but has only come into regular rotation for us over the last year or so. We love the drinks, the food, and the fun and attentive staff. It’s a place we bring out of town guests who end up loving it as much as we do. Plant based entrees are as inventive and inviting as anything else on the menu. Cauliflower steak? Incredible !
Thea L — Google review
Black bean fritters were great as were the fries and passion fruit mule. The sandwiches were small for the price and the pork belly hoagie could use a more dynamic sauce like a peanut sauce as well as more pickles. it was also very cold where we were, that might prevent us from returning in the winter. Music could have benefited from some jazz or bossanova and quieter volume. Overall decor was fantastic.
MJ G — Google review
As someone going to Daily Planet for the first time, I would definitely go again! The atmosphere and vibe is great (there’s outdoor and indoor seating with a bar included). For someone who doesn’t drink alcohol, I found the nonalcoholic drink choices to be inclusive. Our server Stella was amazing, checking in on us every so often to make sure everything was spot on. The food was amazing, totally recommend the hot honey shrimp and polenta. Overall excellent experience and would go again to try more items!

the glass ceilings and plants made this one of the best meals I’ve had. The coffee was delightful. The chorizo burrito paired with the home fries were flavorful and well prepared, would recommend anyone looking for a good meal with amazing environment to dine here.Staff was friendly and helpful in suggesting choices when we could not decide.

Eclectic menu and vegetarian friendly. Our waitress was very nice but I think the kitchen lost our order. Patrons who were seated after us had their order delivered before us and left the restaurant - well before we received our meal. Not sure what the snafu was but we would definitely go back at a less busy time.

Aside from my husband finding out nothing in the restaurant hinted of Superman, this was pretty good. Glad to find a decent restaurant that didn't immediately want us to vacate our table as soon as we paid (Farmhouse Grille 👎🏼👎🏼). Jack was super, and cocktails and food were really yummy 😋
Mrs. M — Google review
The food was not good. The venison meatballs were so tough and the sauce tasted like it was from a jar. Actually I have sauces from a jar that were way better. The cauliflower was not cooked enough and was tough although the sauce was good. The salad was a pile of arugula and some blueberries. The only good thing was the black bean fritters which were tasty. Presentation wasn’t that great. While the service was good, the food was not worth the hearty price tag.
Rachel S — Google review
A restaurant like no other, The Daily Planet was a very enjoyable experience. Emily, my waitress was very friendly and right on point with service. I was able to enjoy outside seating and noted the inside had great art that matched the setting. I enjoyed two adult beverages, the Smoke Jumper and the Kentucky Mash. Both were great, but the Smoke Jumper was particularly well mixed. I had two small plates; the Green Beans Almondine and the Gazpocho Verde. The The Green Beans Almindine was so good I want to try and make them at home. The Gazpocho Verde was excellent, but be prepared for a cold style soup, which I enjoy.

I have been coming to the daily planet since I was a baby and have watched staff and management be changed which for some places can take a toll on the general environment or a restaurant, but that has not happened here. I had a fine meal with my husband the other day and was overly impressed with the service and quality of the food. I would like to shout out the waitress Eve who immediately made us feel at home with her warm and welcoming attitude and tinge of humor!Great experience, will come again and again.

The Spot is a Surf-themed cafe in a renovated gas station. The cafe specializes in hearty breakfasts and fish tacos. Dogs are also allowed at the tables outside, as well as doggy ice cream for your pup. The human menu on offer is fresh and local, with the classic breakfast item Huevos Rancheros and the lunchtime favorite, Peahi fish tacos.
One of the few breakfast dine-in restaurants in the south end of Burlington. My wife and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast in a dining area with a chill beach vibe. They have a broad breakfast menu that will bring us back but what sealed the deal was having chorizo on the menu.

A great little local “SPOT” to stop and eat! We met a friend for brunch and enjoyed it very much! The food was really good and has options for everyone. The service was friendly and the vibe was chill with a surf decor theme going on.I would definitely go again!

Very good breakfast. Pancakes were pretty solid and fluffy. We also ordered smoothie which was pretty good! Probably a good go-to breakfast place. The parking maybe pretty tight as this place is popular almost all the time. The service was a bit slow, but I also went on President's day so there probably was more people than expected.

A really cool and unique restaurant! Being the insides of an old gas station it's quite small but it adds to the charm. When we went for breakfast it was a very busy day. There also is not a lot of parking. However if you are a key to get a spot it really is the spot. The surfer aesthetic is really well done and unique in Vermont.Be warned the food is amazing, but also massive. The sizes of food are enormous for example my side of a pancake was bigger than most pancakes I had even seen before. That was on top of my main omelet which was the size of my arm. This isn't a negative but something to note when going.Staff was also very sweet

I've been here twice and I've ordered the same thing each time; the Rincon breakfast burrito is so so yummy. I love the outdoor seating area and brought my dog. My server provided a bowl of water for my pup, too, which was great. The service is wonderful and very unobtrusive. The check arrived both times without me having to ask and I didn't feel rushed.

Fun surfer style spot in a repurposed old gas station. I remember when this place first opened, the food was just ok as was the service. Since then however, they have made tremendous improvements and the food and service are now great! Portions are large and quality is high while the price is reasonable. The staff is friendly and the restaurant has a nice Cali style vibe and surfer style decor. Sitting outside in the warmer months is a great option here and you can sit outside with your dog. Only reason it gets 4/5 from me is because the coffee is just ok. Great spot though, highly recommend!

City Market is a Burlington gourmet grocery store that stocks local produce and offers some of the best sandwiches in Vermont, possibly the country. It's usually crowded, but the lines are worth it for the delicious sandwiches. The store also has a wide variety of other grocery items, so it's great for anyone in the city.
City Market has been the grocery store I've shopped at for years. They're a Coop, and you can choose to become a member if you want. My membership has been fully paid off for years now. As a member, you get to vote for the annual board members and you get to attend the annual meeting. They're always lots of fun. I love that I'm supporting a local business, and I really like that they sell as many locally produced products as they can. Even in the winter, you still can purchase lots of locally grown produce. Their produce is always fresh, and they have a good variety on in general in the supermarket.

Wicked expensive and the attitude the employees seem to ALWAYS have is ridiculous. Very judgmental towards people based on their appearance. I work with people with disabilities who like to stop there before I bring them to group and the employees always give us nasty looks when we walk through.

If you wanna good and I mean GOOD sandwich... go here! If you have foodstamps, no worries, you can still buy them! As long as they keep making sandwiches, I'll keep going! Way better than Subway or any other local spot I've been! 12/10 recommend!Just make sure yall go between 10-2! That's the only time you can get them made to order, at least for now!

City mkt used to be great, but it is at risk of turning into city hall park. It is often dirty, starting to look run down. The bathroom is usually filthy. So dirty they sometimes appear to lock it to prevent homeless people from using it to shoot up? I cannot tell. Service has also deteriorated, unfortunately - staff had me wait an hour for prepared food, only to tell me "sorry we are not making any more", no explanation. I went to the front desk to let them know.... Waited and waited, no one there. I could not even lodge a complaint. Come on city mkt, you can do better!

Extensariety of organic foods. It's somewhat pricy but worth every penny. We wanted a simple breakfast. We purchased yogurt, brie, crusty baguette, and 2 pints of organic strawberries.

The Deli food bar there at City Market has way over priced items. The burgers there don’t even have tomatoes, onions of lettuces. The prepared food quality there is subpar and with not variations as it was before the current chef took over. Do not expect there at the deli bar any “free-range” eggs (they are “cage free instead”), organic veggies or grass-fed animal meat there. However, you will be charged as it they were that! Just a small portion of potatoes, rice and beans with cost you close to $17. Beware!

Well it's right down town, great location, plenty of parking spots, handicap parking too. There are plenty of bike racks for patrons who ride. They even have tables outside when the weather is nice. There is a dog station if you choose to let your dog wait outside, but you can always bring service animals inside (anywhere). Also they have an ATM outside, now as far as inside the store, well there's a great produce section,a bulk food department , spices, candies, and dry goods. They have an excellent selection of vitamins and O. T. C. medicines. Then they have a deli, meat and seafood counters, sushi, hot foods, M. T. O. sandwiches, beer, wine, groceries... I think they have just about anything you can think of. They offer memberships which come with discounts and incentives, perks, news updates on the Co-op and if you're on SSI or food stamps, you can get a membership for free.

It's Taco Tuesday in Burlington's old North end and there's no better place to be, than Taco Gordo. It's a local hub of loud, standing room only, self-service deliciousness served up in baskets of bueno. With a full bar, and a creative Inez mixing up everything from standards to special requests, you really can't go wrong. Start with the chips and guac, especially if you're like me and love your fatty avocado cut with a little extra acid...and don't forget the agua, because there's no sparing the salt on the snappy house made tortillas. It was tempting to try it all...but I limited myself to a taco tinga, pork tamale, and guac tostada. The tostada arrived crispy with a healthy dose of cilantro that I really enjoyed. The taco was both light and satisfying with a good mix of flavors...if you're seeking senseless heat, this is not a hot pepper challenge. It's good authentic food. While the masa was on the dry side (likewise the rice), the pork tamale was full of flavor. With a side of rice and beans, my three choices turned out to be more than enough for a fulfilling and enjoyable meal. It's close quarters, but most of our nearby diners we're friendly and eager to share in conversation. I was concerned about one man at the bar who appeared to be gnawing on his forearm, until I watched him dip it in salsa verde and realized it was a massive burrito. Next time, Taco Gordo...next time...mi amigo.

Best tacos I've had in the state, staff is nice, Al pastor was great, the ice cream is also good. Id pass on the brisket special next time

We saw the highlights of this little taco place on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives and were sure to include it on our vacation through the area. It's an order at the window type of place and they have a lovely little patio. Guy was right, the El Pastor taco was scrumptious! Layers of slightly crisped pulled pork and pineapple were the highlights of this dish set of lots of fresh cilantro and Adobe sauce that layered with flavor! Good service, relaxed atmosphere. I'm jealous of the folks that live within walking distance of this gem.

We just got cocktails this time with chips and salsa of course. Service could not have been better. We sat at the bar. Love coming here, it never disappoints.

With this being one of the only places around Burlington to get tacos, I feel inclined to give it a higher rating. Besides this the food here is phenomenal with lots of authentic Mexican dishes to choose from. I always enjoy trying the non-alcoholic Mexican drinks like horchata and tepache. The tacos always come out fresh and quickly. All in all, this is a great spot for a casual bite or a nice night out if you are feeling tacos.

Each of us 2 had the Al Pastor and Tinga. And then we had another Al Pastor each - so.good! And some pickled red onions on top; nicely complemented the taste. Paloma cocktail and ginger beer were satisfying.

I didn’t even need to eat the food…Devo followed by psychedelic furs playing in the background was enough to start with. The tacos were really good and the service was spot on. Food came out of the kitchen fast and hot…don’t overlook the hot sauce/condiments bar.

Solid taco joint. We like their straight forward and simple menu. Seating is first come first serve and it’s always packed.

I’m probably too old for this place. It’s really dark and got pretty loud as it filled up.The Al pastor taco was delicious, the tinga was dry. Tacos are TINY. Also wish I’d known how small they would be because I would have ordered more than two. Salsa was not good. More like taco sauce that you’d put in the meat than anything.Cocktails were good but if you order them this is definitely not a $10-20 meal. I spent $40.

I never really enjoyed tacos as I don't eat a lot of meat but the chicken tacos at Taco Gordo were incredible! It's a great restaurant with indoor and outdoor seats. The food is a great value and the margarita and drink selection is overflowing!

Had the carnitas tacos and they were incredibly salty, like the top fell off the salt shaker when they were seasoning them. Couldn't finish the meal, and went to the grocery store to get some juice to wash the taste out of my mouth, then threw up a bit in the park. I have had meals there that were fine in the past so maybe a fluke.

Despite being located in Winooski, Vermont, Sneakers is a popular go-to for all-day breakfasts and brunch. It also serves up American lunch and dinner favorites, including Huevos Rancheros. The restaurant has a bright, airy atmosphere with cute decor, making it great for a casual meal.
Fantastic vibe and atmosphere with outstanding breakfast! The service was good and the food was great. The bloody Mary was spot and the coffee was very good. The Cowboy Hash with smoked beef brisket and two pouched eggs was a flavor explosion with extra side of hollandaise sauce (a must add).

Great service and food to for for. I had the begium waffles and, oh so good! Waiter was so attentive and helpful. I highly recommend. I would go again!

For all the raving reviews we have to say, ‘we just don’t get it.’ Spicy Bloody had no spice and indiscernible vodka. Hash was meh. Coffee was refilled only after waving over the sullen waiter. Toast was garden variety. Giant snooze.

From the picturesque set up to the chill vibes. This was a great morning stop a few days ago. Great food, amazing service. Will be back for more!

Outstanding food. The owners care a great deal about the community. Enjoy eating brunch outside. It's well known that Sneakers is among the best food establishments in the area; I hope they continue doing their good work for years to come.

Facing the main square in Winooski, a small town just north of Burlington, Sneakers is a popular morning haunt for the neighborhood. There is outdoor space lining the street in classic picnic tables, a cost downstairs area and an expanded upstarts seating are divided into smaller sections. The ambiance is clean and bright with lots of windows on both the lower and upper floors. The menu options are you classic breakfast fare with nothing being outside the box. We ordered the Breakfast Sandwich (good) as well as the California Benedict (also good). Service was friendly and the meal was served shortly after ordering, even though the restaurant was quite busy. Overall a solid place to enjoy breakfast. Enjoy!

I hadn't been here in quite some time and was glad to see not much has changed. The staff was friendly, the food came out quickly and was delicious. Great breakfast, highly recommended!

I had a delicious breakfast here! I was able to park in front of the restaurant (meter parking - can pay on the park mobile app). We sat upstairs, which was spacious. The only obnoxious part was the bees that were flying around (assuming they got in downstairs since the front door was open). I had the Jumpstart #3 with black coffee. Highly recommended!

This is a great spot and look forward to coming back to try other items. The service was a little off but I don't think that's typical, we ordered drinks that didn't arrive until after the food came, which was annoying. We were told it was a cup shortage issue, which is odd but really I would have rather have been told so we weren't left wondering. I was also a little disappointed in chicken which was added to our breakfast burrito, it may have been included but if it was, I couldn't tell. Felt like a waste. Breakfast potatoes might have been the best I've ever had. Espresso White Russian was solid.

The waitstaff was amazing. I can’t say much for the management who rudely asked us to leave. While I get they need to move tables, it was the way in which he asked. RUDE. Also they are becoming stingy on maple syrup. They use to have small bottles. Now it is a thimble size portion. Wish I had taken a picture. Again the waitstaff are always kind and considerate. Too bad management can’t take a cue.

Food was delicious and service was very quick and welcoming! We got the maple lattes, their famous eggs Benedict, the waffles with strawberries, and a side of the maple sausages.

Great service, we were sat quickly and everyone was very nice. Maybe we went on an off day, but the food was incredibly bland, almost to the point of being inedible. There is salt and pepper at the table, but for simple things like eggs, grits, and sausage it really lacked anything that would make it cost what it does.

We’ve lived in this area for over 6 years, and we finally made it to Sneakers for breakfast on Mother’s Day. We sure wish we’d been coming here all along! The food was excellent (pancakes, eggs, and bacon), the portions generous (5 slices of bacon), the mimosas delicious, and our server was attentive. Needless to say, we will be back soon (probably this weekend)!

Amazing breakfast. Everything was delicious. Service was quick. Prices were reasonable. The Benedict was absolutely delicious. The French toast was good. And the cowboy hash was great. Even the power waffle was good.

On our way to Burlington from Plattsburgh New York we stop by here for a late breakfast/brunch. The place is located on the side of the road with two floors and some outdoor seating. We were seated promptly and our orders were taken. I got the eggs benedict with a side of a pancake and my wife got the veggie hash. Both of these meals were delicious and I highly recommend. It's probably one of the best breakfast/brunch meals I've had in a while. The pancake was also really delicious as well especially when you mix it with genuine maple syrup. The next time in Burlington this is a must go to and I recommend all my friends who are in the area to try this out.

Was in Burlington for a short visit. Went to Sneakers for brunch. The food and environment was amazing. Server was 🔥. I live far away or I'd be going back again and again.

I love the food at sneakers! I got a delicious omelet with home fries and gluten-free toast and a side of bacon. There were a lot of flies around the restaurant on the second floor which was kind of gross, although the doors were open downstairs so I kind of understood why and didn’t really care. Our server wasn’t always around, but overall it was understood as it was super busy on a Saturday morning and most places are short staffed and busy. We still got everything we needed and when we could catch them and called them over they were always happy to help! Despite the busy-ness, the food came out fast! I dream of the food all week!
